THE INTRANCER wrote: Tue Nov 21, 2023 8:47 pm I think I'll stick to 4.6 Pro for now, 7.0 will have better value for new features along with a full cycle of updates until version 8.0 arrives. 6.5 is nice but nothing really excites me. New instruments would be nice to see in 7.0.
Studio One 4 is a great DAW. Really begs the question of what actually needs to be done to improve it?
The GUI could be better. But, that's pretty much a first world problem. ;)

One issue I see when skipping so many versions is that you will be a bit overwhelmed by the bloat they added in the meantime...

6's customizable user interface is appealing but I know I would never get around to actually doing it.

Hm, how did that pass by me? That's a very nice addition. Always found the inspector a bit busy with options I don't use.

The customizable interface is the best QoL update to Studio One in a long time. Perhaps ever.

It’s super easy. You just open the dialog box and uncheck the elements you don’t want to see. (First to go was the Shop, Loops, and Cloud in the browser! ;))

Customization has really cleaned up my Studio One environment and I spend a lot less time searching for the stuff I use.

Can you purchase the upgrade now during black friday, and activate it when 7 arrives? Or would you end up with 6.5?

They're usually fixed by number ie Professional 6 upgrade vs Professional 5 upgrade, so 7 would be Professional 7 upgrade, unless I'm mistaken and there may be some grace period

Also note that version 7 is still a long way down the road, so, you might have to wait for a long time to activate it, if it even works, which I doubt. I haven't heard that it works that way. Only for Cubase.

Yeah, it looks very nice and easy. Might just convince me to upgrade finally. ;)

v1.0: September 2009
v2.0: October 2011
v3.0: May 2015
v4.0: May 2018
v5.0: July 2020
v6.0: September 2022

So I'd say we have at least a year before we see v7.0.

If you purchase the v6 upgrade, you will always have the most current version of 6.x, regardless of when you activate it, but not version 7.

That and the price I think just convinced me. Thomann has the upgrade for $89. Best Service for a little less with the coin.

Now I wonder if this price is especially low just for this week and will go back up to $105 or will remain at $90 until end of year ... and if Best Service will do their year end promo codes like last year. Perhaps not since they just ran them for Oktoberfest.

I'll wait for full GUI customisation, I.E. Being able to undock the browser and re-dock it somewhere else as well as with the sequencer, drum/sequencer programmer, and being able to create custom tabs. For example, being able to create custom instruments and effects that you can view in one pane graphically, instead of just one tabbed window as there is now. Kinda like a Cinema 4D GUI system.

I was actually pondering about what to do? S1 5.5 Pro here on an Hackintosh i7 9700K, Mojave and a Presonus Quantum 2626.

The deal at Thomannmusic.com is better (89 USD - 121 CAD) vs 140 CAD with the 30% off sale from Presonus.

This, coupled with:

- the fact that the next version would probably need an OS upgrade (I wanna stay on Mojave);
- now, there is a way to disable the Dropout Protection completely. Reaper is able to run Kontakt hungry Walker D piano at 64 buffer but it glitches in S1 5.5 at the same buffer, go figure!

Regarding the sale at Thomann: It says it's a Black Week sale, so, I guess the price will be the regular Thomann price (119 € here) after that.

I clicked that "Buy" button yesterday. 99 €. Just installed it. Configuring now. :)

Disclaimer and self-reassurance: It's been 5 1/2 years now that I upgraded to Studio One 4, so, it was about time.

Yes, the sense I get is the same, that the current low prices are temporary and will go up slightly after this week. Congratulations on your upgrade. I'm sure that'll keep you busy for awhile.
