Anyone compared the Roland S-1 to this? I keep hearing people rave about the Roland's sound but I feel like the Softube should be just as good. I have not gotten my hands on the Roland yet.

I had the same thought but resisted, bloody Pokémon feverchk071 wrote: Thu Nov 23, 2023 11:52 am Wonder if I should get it for the current 35 € deal. Just to complete my collection.![]()
If you don't already have any 101 emulation sand like the simple 101 sound it may be worth it, but even the real 101 does nothing for me , so an emulation is a bit pointless!

I'm pretty much tossing it and the model 72 in with my Softube Modular on sale if you want that. It is not a sound that I like really. I was around when that stuff was being released - even before - and I never really liked the Roland sound much - I was more an ARP personchk071 wrote: Thu Nov 23, 2023 11:52 am Wonder if I should get it for the current 35 € deal. Knocked it down to $31 here. I grabbed it for that cheap, might as well. I loved my 101, as limited as it was, but I bought all the parts to fix mine like 3 years ago and still have not gotten around to it yet.SonicDimension wrote: Thu Nov 23, 2023 2:53 pm Don't forget about the extra 10% discount with code EXTRABLACK.![]()

I did a quick demo of both of them. Here's a few thoughts : I find harder to get a bad sound out of M82 than B101. I feel like it's easiser to find sweet spots. They both sound excellent in general. B101 has far better/more presets. The sequencer worflow is better in B101 but I don't think I would ever use the internal sequencer in any of those synth. B101 has a bit more features. If pricing was the same I think I would go for the Tal but rn M82 is 50% cheaper so I think I will go with that.
