Milkman wrote: Sun Nov 26, 2023 3:41 am Just took advantage of the $80 upgrade, and I have to say... while the quality of the sounds that come from Avenger2 are really good, and I still have all my Avenger1 presets, but... the number of presets included with the base upgrade price was misleading. I went back and checked the main details page again, and it claims "over 2000 new presets", but this is only if you spend a fortune on additional preset packs on top of the base price. The base synth has like 150-200 presets, with almost nothing in categories like atmospheres, chords, effects, pads, piano/keys, etc.

Perhaps more experienced Avenger users know that the presets arent included? I did not, and this feels shady. It was nice to see more than just psytrance/housemusic in the presets, but once again... those are only paid preset packs that stray into more diverse genres. I want to like this deal a lot more, but...
dont know where you read that with 2000 preset
there are 250 new presets in factory 2, countless samples, drums es - and 1500 new drumloops sorted into categories (check the drums tab and its own broser)

if you count all released expansion packs together, we have around 13500 presets in total, which is a lot

It's impossible to make long decay with only 5000 ms and long release with only 10 000 ms on v1
nope its not
just chose "external source" for the env and select modEnv 1. Now you can make as long envelopes as you want. Even several minutes long.

A few general thoughts on the last page of posts:

XPs too expensive for you - don't buy them. You have a fully programmable synth and can get third party banks if you want more - there's good stuff out there (would be great if Simon Stockhausen did some more). Also there are some good official XP sales, esp look for the multi-buy sales where it works out $25-$30 per XP.

XPs too EDM - Manuel has addressed this multiple times. In terms of a proportion, IIRC it's around 50% of the XPs are some form of EDM. (I do think Factory Library 2 is too weighted towards EDM, given the extraordinary sound design potential of V2 it seems a bit of a waste).

M Series CPU spikes - I've encountered no spikes here on an M2, but I don't work at low buffer sizes.

Though CPU spikes have an issue, sound is outstanding, especially when you starting to dig by yourself from the start.
Also new skin is joy for the eyes and ARP/Quantizer features are top notch. I am glad i upgraded.

The only wish workflow wise is to be able to add favorites folders in Files tab for faster search.

Manuel,
Is it possible to implement in the 2.x updates?

FYI - Plugin Boutique has the Pick 5 bundle for £154, about £30 per XP. They had a sale a couple of months ago for £115 - if that deal comes round again it is £23 per XP.

Thank You

Hope they will change that directly on the envelope

I love the idea for a favorites folder.

I asked earlier but I have had no reply. After installing V2, which I think is brilliant, I can no longer find my own Preset Bank in the Content Menu. I have looked everywhere on my computer but is seems to have disappeared. Obviously, this represents a lot of work. Is anyone else having the same problem and what is the solution - I really hope there is a solution. Thanks for any help on this.

Well, the "2k presets" is misleading, but the "upgrade" itself is a one massive "expansion" called Factory 2 + another huge expansion feature - wise + an unspoken promise for this instrument to grow & grow. Hence, the price is justified imho, esp. considering that upgrading is not mandatory.

Besides, cmon... We get an instrument of amazing quality. If you want it to be, it can function as a simple synth OR it can be basically now like all these costly hardware arrangers except you are not limited to "styles" anymore, you have all the sounds editable - a dream come true.

Yes, it has its bugs, for some reason uknown to me I have now double the original "factory" expansion and it cannot be removed, but these will be gone sooner or later, and just imagine what comes next... Next comes the AI that will turn your own cr*ppy singing into any great vocal you can think of and we will be able to mix it with our own arrangements in Avy2. This technology is nowadays expensive, restricted to some services, but tomorrow it will be implemented in DAWs and in Avenger for free... And then - no more pis*ing off your wife/gf/neighbours with countless hrs of perfecting your beat, no, you come home, fire up A2, choose a bass, choose a bit (all designed by finest sound designers in the solar system), a minichain on a bass and you sing into the intrument whatever that's in your mind, a musical idea that was haunting you all day when you were at work. And there you go, you have a spine of your song ready, hassle free...

Any time I sit down to this instrument I feel blessed, almost like a thief who broke into the sesame. Thank You, Vengeance.

I got a free upgrade - yay. The only problem is when I look at Avenger with a mind to actually do something beyond a preset I'm overwhelmed by the amount of things available to fiddle with!
I must sit down and learn it...at least a bit :)

Grum.

had this yesterday with another customer also. He had the Factory 1 files twice. he deleted one and it was fixed...
Maybe both are named slightly different, so a duplicate is possible. Please check that Avenger/Expansions folder only holds one Factory1 and one Factory2.avxp file

just delete one or move it to another temporary location on your hd if you dont want to delete.
then restart daw/plugin

I was pretty underwhelmed by the new preset content but having spent a bit of time working with v2, I love some of the new features.

The midi kill feature on the AA reverb is killer for me. Only the delay had this previously. The Arp features are great. The quantizer is brilliant for arp melodies as they can play in key and the notes adapt rather than just transposing the same pattern with each note!

There’s so much under the hood that it will take time to digest it all I think. Great work to all involved in development.

I agree that the new factory content is indeed very underwhelming for such a big update. Instead, new soundbanks is released that you have to pay for. A bit greedy.

Yes! That worked. Also, I see in the folder there are some double expansions now (but they don't appear double in the A2 browser, so that's ok) - can I safely delete the AVXP ones if I do not intend to use version 1 anymore?

Also, V-man need a bit of love, it shows red dot and my activations number 3 although the instrument is authorized and running. Downloading the keyfile is fixing this, but if I start the V-man again it's same story.

TBH I don't find the new XPs all that appealing either. I really want an expansion that dives into all the new sound design potential for more than EDM.

Several have mentioned an orchestral XP, I know Manuel has said in the past that Nexus is better suited for multisampling. I'd be much more interested in world instruments - not super-deeply sampled (which isn't Avenger's forte), but as a spring board for atmospheric stuff it could be stellar.
