Not exactly just a drum sequencer, but...

Duality without regard to physicality

Post

Hy-RPE demo was flagged as containing a virus. Not sure whether to proceed with that. Anyone else used the demo safely? Its the last bit of the Macafee suite I've left on, the Web scanning thingy.

Atlas seems great but in truth appears to be mainly a unique sample browser system with a sequencer tacked on. While it's nice and simple, I'm not sure I really care about its main purpose. My samples are where they are.

I actually do have a Maschine Mikro, purchased it for work and have it briefly at home to test. Which I haven't done, but have started using the Maschine production software which seems like it could be a very good sequencer. I am guessing it is using a version or iteration of the Battery/Kontakt engine. Maybe too cumbersome though.

But really what I want is something to simply sequence samples loaded to Battery. I am not sure the Playbeat demo allows midi routing and the constant sinewave is just ridiculous so demoing is just annoying. In truth, the HY sequencers look great but the virus thing makes me wary.

Nest from Sugar Bytes is interesting and currently 50% off.

All HY Plugins are perfectly safe to run. The developer is well known already and has been around a while. Great customer service from him too.

OP, this is also extremely flexible, depending on the sort of sequences you'd like to make. Added bonus: you can use it for a lot more than just drums:

BF sale applies until December 5th.

Almost every Audiomodern plugin has a randomization function, so there's little need for drawing into a piano roll, unless you just want to. fwiw.

The Cubase sequencer is terrible. I believe it's been updated but I'm using Cubase 12.

So far, I'm probably going to keep using Playbeat. Haven't figured out how to drive Battery but honestly Battery annoys me in many ways so if I have to retire it, no great issue.

Curious if anyone who uses TAL Drum, does this have outputs similar to Battery?

Another shout for Atlas.

A bit of an underrated gem.
I will take the Lord's name in vain, whenever I want. Hail Satan! And his little goblins too.

No it’s not. I’ve been using cubase 10 years. Love it. Horses for courses.

Have you tried putting individual sample hits on audio tracks?

Interested in finding a basic step sequencer for drums. Currently use Battery but of course it lacks a sequencer, and I just find drawing midi somewhat frustrating. I used to use Redrum for basic patterns and found it limited but useful.

I've got Reaktor and I know there are sequencers somewhere in there, so happy if anyone can suggest a Reaktor tool. I've even playing around with Audio Modern Playbeat which is great and I'll probably end up using that too, but I'm hoping to keep using Battery and Playbeat has many features I probably don't need. DAW is Cubase 12. Any suggestions welcome.
So you have Cubase yet ask for a drum sequencer ? :dog:

Dude, seriously, There are all kinds of sequencers build into Cubase, from step sequencer and beat designer to the drum editor. All of them far surpass anything that you can get as a plugin.

I highly recommend watching a few vids on the subject (Dom Sigalas has quite a few) and learning what you already have available. Because you're now just wasting your time and money searching for something that will never be as good as what you already have.
