If you click on 'applicant' 127 times it emails you the beta link
That explains why I didn't receive mine yet, I only clicked 120 times :dog:

Just think…
There are many instances when in Live you are using Groups/Racks.
That requires a different approach. Even BW can’t deal with Groups in the mixer view (unless it changed in the 5.1).
It needs an expandable slot for it…. Hard to see it coming anytime soon.
Yeah, I doubt it’ll ever come, because it just doesn’t make sense. And even if Ableton somehow manages to develop some sort of graphical representation of the signal flow for quick access, the jury’s still out on the question whether it’s really faster or just marginally so.
I think this would have been the coup de grâce for Bitwig, the small mixer on the arranger side can be configured independently, and it wouldn't even be a disturbance if it wasn't there

I prefer Ableton the way the whole DAW is implemented and, because no one got it perfect, there is room for improvements.
Ableton is going to surprise all of us in the near future…

Can someone with access to the beta please check if you can automate that with the new Midi CC device?

I’m not a Bitwig user. How does it deal with nested structures, i.e. grouped instrument racks with lots of parallel processing in several chains etc?

Discount period ends on 30 November (I think). Could that be the day the beta opens up?

https://help.ableton.com/hc/en-us/artic ... -Order-FAQ

Does the offer expire?
The offer ends once Live 12 is released. If you pre-ordered Live 12, the payment link will secure your price for 14 days, after which it will expire.

Can I cancel my pre-order?
Pre-order customers will be charged for Live 12 (for credit card pre-orders) or be sent a payment link (for other payment methods) the day before Live 12 is released. Until payment is processed, you can cancel your pre-order at any time without being charged.

In Bitwig, fundamentally, and even before version 5, instruments go into the Instrument containers while effects go into the FX containers (the layers inserted use a common buffer, if a separate buffer is needed then a different container is used: Instrument or FX Selector). The depth of encapsulation can be as desired, but the macros can only modulate the contents within them. Version 5 introduced modulators at the track, group, and project level, which also see and can modulate the contents within them in a parent-child relationship.

That's too gnomic for me. Do you mean I'm wrong about the discount period ending on the 30th? I can't remember where I saw that written so I probably am.

I didn't think you needed the txt file anymore, I read the option to view device slots is now built into the view menu in 12 ?, may not be perfect yet, but if that is the case (I don't have the beta yet) they are working on it and its a firm feature! :tu:
X32 and 24C mixers, S88MK3, Live + PUSH 3, Osmose, RedShift 6, Pro3, S4, Tempera, Syntakt, Digitone, OP1-F, OPXY, TR-1000, Eurorack, TD27 Drums, Guitars, Basses, Amps and of course lots of pedals!

It is, but only after you use the options.txt method. So nothing changed.

No, device slots is not a supported feature, it had always appeared in the menu if you activated the options in the text file.

It is also not currently being developed, but not completely forgotten, as stated by a developer in the beta forum.

Thanks for clarification- I had read it as being there by default- - I will hold on to the 'not completely forgotten' part as a grain of hope and take some solace in the fact that it still there in Live 12!

Not directly related to Live 12, but - a workflow question about organising your sketches.

Sometimes when I'm mucking around ie exploring an instrument perhaps or something, I'll think "this is interesting and worth keeping, but I'd like to use it in a different project". It's a sketch of an idea.

I currently have a sketches folder in the browser, and I'll drag and drop a track into that. That feels a bit clumsy though, since it creates a new project with the single track - is there a better way of doing it?
