Haven't had a chance to try this yet but Atomic Amps has released an amp sim and profiler called Tonocracy.

It has full blown sims of some amps, includes captures of others (including some Amalgam captures), loads NAM profiles, and has a good system for batch processing your own captures with a faster training process than TONEX. They also apparently deal really with setting correct input/output levels based on what interface you're using - which was a big hubbub with TONEX.

Definitely seems promising as a TONEX alternative.

$149 plus taxes? Think I'll stick with the free NAM player and every other ampsim I've got, none of which cost anything like $149!

I'm very curious about their SchemAccurate technology. I just tried it briefly before I ran off to work, the AC30 model sounded better than any traditional amp sim I've tried. But how will it compare to a well executed NAM capture?

i.e. Studio Devil, his first gen ampsim plugin company, which back the mid/late 2000’s was a cutting edge high quality algorithmic amp sim for the time. It probably still holds up as being very good today. The free British model ampsim he offered was used by many. At some point he ported his amp sim models to floor multifx hardware with the Atomic Amps line.

What's the back story with the Amplifire line from Atomic Amps? I saw some vague discussion on The Gearpage about being a little cautious about this because of what happened with Amplifire not getting support or updates. I suppose I could ask there but if someone here knows...

Well there have been two updates to Tonocracy so far... one just occurred. I went for it for $150. So far so good - I need to profile some of my amps to really test it out, but I've found several good captures on line. It loads NAM, so there's a lot already there, but frankly I haven't found my holy grail capture yet.
Maybe they are focusing on the design of a hardware player for Tonocracy. If that's the case... well, personally... I'm all for it. That's really why I invested.

I got it too as an all-in-one solution, combining both captures and modeling, and as a librarian for all the captures and cabinet IRs I have. It's really quite convenient to have all that in one place. Also, standardized input/output levels make life much easier. I have yet to capture my own stuff, though, but will try soon.

I can’t even update anything, I tried to see how much they charge for a fx pedal, but it takes me to a page asking what I’m looking for.lol
So far its mediocre, basically a gui using a nam profile of at-least one decent Marshall.

Its profiler is excellent and easier to work with than competitors' options. The calibration functions on it alone make it dramatically more level-consistent although not inherently better (or worse). The rest of the ecosystem being considerably less robust than the capture part is a downside, but it's a killer capturing interface that I hope influences some other, bigger players at the very least. I'd love for ToneX to ape that calibration!
