Because you could buy the "crossgrade" for $150 from at least three different resellers for a short time, which had no entitlements checked.tripleflows wrote: Tue Nov 28, 2023 11:06 am It is 300 now... how could have it been grabbed for 150?

$143 from one retailer. Just one of those short lived bargains for those that took the chance (I was one of them), I just think UA were glad to have lost of people buying for whatever reason.beely wrote: Tue Nov 28, 2023 12:36 pmBecause you could buy the "crossgrade" for $150 from at least three different resellers for a short time, which had no entitlements checked.tripleflows wrote: Tue Nov 28, 2023 11:06 am It is 300 now... how could have it been grabbed for 150?

It is now, it wasn't for a while.
I see they are doing 3 months sub scription to 'spark' now for $1- good way for some people to try the stuff.

I've checked, and the current (299.50) good price is because Universal Audio has a Holidai Sale (Offers end December 31st.
). So it can be, tthat 2024 jan will show higher price.

If you 1) don't already own huge chucks of the bundle, 2) don't hate iLok, but 3) don't like subscriptions, then this bundle at $300 is an incredible value/bargain. You're getting a lot of incredible plugins at that price.

Though doing the subscription at $99 a year is actually hard to beat, as much as we all may hate subs.
I mean, $300 would get you 3 years of “rental” which is already pretty decent, though I would still opt to buy at that point. But when you take into consideration how many unknown hundreds of dollars worth of UADx plugins UA will port/release over those 3 years, then renting starts looking like the smarter choice. So long as UA released at least $100 worth of plugins each year, and as long as a subscription can be had for $99 a year, it will remain the better option indefinitely. That requires a leap of faith of course, but no more than the faith we’re putting in iLok Cloud to remain up and active.

Can someone help me out?
I came into owning Eventide's Clockwork bundle through quite a generous offer. It was one of the best deals I've ever had.
Now, while I really like the included plugins, I've been thinking about selling the bundle and instead buying the UAD Signature Edition and never buying other plugins at all.
I'm not sure if that would be a smart decision. I know that the price for which I bought Clockworks is never going to be the same. I still can't find any use for the plugins, even though they are really high quality. While with Signature, I want and possibly need the Minimoog, Lexicon 224, Dimension-D, Brigade Chorus and other ones.
Yet, buying Signature poses two issues:
1. iLok. I would need to spend 50$ on a physical key (I don't like Cloud). That's a lot. Every dollar counts. Besides, my laptop only has two ports, which is going to be really annoying.
2. Not an investment. UA's native plugins can not be resold, so I can't justify buying them by saying "I can resell them later if I want to."
I also don't want to buy anything lower than Signature, because there are no guaranteed upgrades if I would want that in the future.
So, if you put yourself in my position - starting out (even though i've been at this for at least 5 years) and you're young - what would be the best option? Perhaps just sell Clockworks and save the money? Or not sell because it might get more expensive? Or even wait and buy the Anthology upgrade? Or sell most of the plugins I don't use and buy a more powerful machine? (I've been running into some performance issues on mine sometimes).
I don't even know...

ilok doesn't need cloud or dongle, it can be locked to your computer hardware.

Eventide is a far more reliable and trustworthy company than UAD.

Not with UAD - you only have two options: either iLok USB or iLok Cloud.SLiC wrote: Fri Mar 22, 2024 1:15 pm ilok doesn't need cloud or dongle, it can be locked to your computer hardware.

That's also something I thought about. Eventide seems like a really great company, UA too, but Eventide offer great upgrades from the looks of it. Perhaps you're right.martinjuenke wrote: Fri Mar 22, 2024 1:46 pmStay with the Clockwork Bundle.
