After a couple of decades this little yellow guy is still the most wildly capable comb delays out there. Tritik Moodal ...kind of half-ways it... But I'm looking for a competitor perhaps in Realtor or some.other format... Nothing exists in the vst sphere to compare.

Jeez, those were some wicked Fx… I loved them but back then forgot about them since moving to Mac…. Good memories!

Not of much help regarding substitutes, though.

You've tried Melda's MCombMB? Very capable comb filter.

Too bad. Mcomb is fantastic but a different animal altogether. Wish dev kept up with it... but they weren't reeeeeeally all that popular unfortunately.

@Debutante , are you familiar with Katakomb for Reaktor? Its made a dev called boscomac who made a s**tload of spectacular fx and instruments for Reaktor.

I’ve never heard or used Macomate, it looks interesting though. Maybe try Resochord if you have Reaktor? It’s part of the Factory Library…

Resochord imprints harmonic structures onto any input signal – including percussive sounds with no existing harmonics. It essentially consists of 6 feedback units, which can be considered analogous to the strings of a guitar, which are effectively ‘plucked’ by the shape and rhythm of the input signal. As each ‘string’ resonates at a different frequency, rich and luscious chords are generated – and thus remarkably, any input signal can be transformed into a unique, MIDI playable instrument.

Their LPC plugin was one of my favorite things ever. Kinda hard to explain macomate to anyone who never used it. Truly bonkers. I will try to dig up old demos.

From the description I would say any Karplus/Strong synth with audio input would do it. I have to look, but I guess I made something like that in Bitwigs Grid.
And the upcoming Myth synth will be Macomate on stereoids…
