Bluecat Destructor. Arturia Coldfire and 100 more.
Actually, any DAW built-in distortion/Saturator.

Post

Arturia Coldfire and Audiority Pyros are the two I find best out of the huge collection of saturators I have. Ozone Exciter I also use a lot when I’m using saturation to add sheen / presence to something.

Arturia Coldfire can be beautiful and the modulation options can generate truly original sounds. I love the wavefolder. The routing options are pretty great as well. Also quite fond of NI Dirt.

Already have coldfire, it’s great. Arturia software is some of my favourite — Fragments especially

Try the Arturia SamsAmp emulation, it's got major sizzle factor.

For me, my most used are Spectre, PSP Saturator/BinAmp and Arturia Coldfire/Culture Vulture.

The new (free) Acustica Audio Pumpkin is also quite awesome.

Kelvin just hits about every target for a static saturator/distortion plugin.

It has two distortion stages that can be either set up as serial, parallel or mid side.

Each stage can be a different distortion type from a selection of tube, transformer or diode based models as well as two "pure" 2nd and 3rd order types.

It has a push-pull eq that consists of three filters so you can control which frequencies go into the distortion and then boost them after the distortion. There are a range of filters including pultec style low and high bands. Each distortion stage can be routed to a filter separately or together.

This all feeds into an output control with a clipper for a final stage. You can drive the clipper with the output trim but also attenuate the overall output of the plugin with a master output. This can be done automatically by holding down the shift key while adjusting the output trim.

It also has a mix knob for parallel processing, a defuzz control to reduce harshness in the mid/high range, oversampling and a stereo spread control that subtly widens the distortion in the stereo field.

It's a very flexible and deep plugin with a ton of possibilities but never gets too complicated or convoluted.

It also sounds fantastic!

I confirm Audiority Pyros is an army knife of saturation.
