This is working for me now.Musical Gym wrote: Sun Dec 03, 2023 1:13 am Can Avenger 2 send midi out to another plugin?
I'm able to assign it as a midi input to another vst, but nothing appears to be sent.
I was hoping I might be able to at least send arp output.

Presets and sound quality only/mainly?ATS wrote: Sun Dec 03, 2023 7:11 am What synths is better than this? I am talking, presets and sound quality mainly. I don't think I could be happier myself.
It's also the almost endless features,. that make Avenger better than most other synths. No other sybth as good as Avenger for sound design and creating presets for all kinds of genres imo.
If I wanted to use presets only with decent sound, I could use Air Xpand2! mainly.

I found HALion7 to be very powerful. It's not as easy to use as Avenger - the learning curve can be steep - but the results are very good. It consumes less RAM than Avenger, it's rock solid and supports multi-threading. I purchased Avenger 1 several months ago, had fun playing with it but haven't used it in any of my project. I would consider upgrading to Avenger 2 if there was a demo available, so I could test its performance on my system.ATS wrote: Sun Dec 03, 2023 7:11 am What synths is better than this? I have all those, I still think in the criteria I mentioned Avenger is better.

You really think Air Xpand2 sound as good as Avenger?DCrown wrote: Sun Dec 03, 2023 8:11 amPresets and sound quality only/mainly?ATS wrote: Sun Dec 03, 2023 7:11 am What synths is better than this? I am talking, presets and sound quality mainly. I don't think I could be happier myself.

Seriously, can we not have yet another vs vs vs thread and keep this on Avenger? Start yet another vs vs vs thread instead?

You opninon is based on preset and not on programming your own sound.
Look for exemple Halion 7, FM Lab is a beast, based on the mighty Yamaha Montage FMX.
One of the best hardware FM synth. A must have for loving FM.
Falcon eat thousand of Avenger for breakfast. Yes avanger is more immediat. Yes Falcon have a long learning curve. It's normal for a endless creative instrument, not a synth, and instrument.
That's make a whole difference.
Omnisophere - If you like preset, it come with the largest soundbank on the market . Endless 14.000 sounds. Even aAvenger with all the expansion doesn't have that much, and will be 4 time expensive than Avenger.

Amazing indeed - and totally unlike the experience of most of us. Basic specs?Gam456 wrote: Sun Dec 03, 2023 3:32 am Amazing
3 osc with classic waveforms for a lush pad
- vintage 24db vcf
- 1 mod env 1 with long and slow decay
- 1 saw, 5 unison, analog voicing, sub, random fine detune,
- 2nd osc same as 1st with detune
- 3rd osc simple sine
- fx ruta rerverb with shimmer
Basically around 16 notes per chord.
cpu around 55% (peak 65%), play few chords, I recorded, play, and had some cracks,
Here is the magic... nothing else in Reaper... open Avenger again and then Reaper crash.
What a fantastic release
Once again we paid for a public beta
I really hope you will polish the lack of optimisation and stability.
For the price, people deseve a top premium synth.
Then send all the info to support.

For your record I can run multiple Omnisphere and Falcon on a track. With programm way more complex than just a basic pad.

Not only did I not say you were the only one - though I've not read anyone saying they have a performance this bad - you still haven't provided basic specs. Mac? Windows? Processor? DAW versions? What version of Avenger?Gam456 wrote: Sun Dec 03, 2023 9:07 am No I'm not the only one flaging performance issues

Can I suggest a standard test for people to compare performance to see if we can collectively isolate where issues may lie? I'm gonna base it on the video Manuel posted here:
To reproduce this test, I started a blank project, added a single instance of Avenger, loaded up the patch Acid in the Factory 2 library's Arps section, and played C2 for 4 bars. Then I lowered the fader to -40db and just started duplicating tracks until I got playback problems, or the performance meter in Cubase showed an over - NOTE - I also added an unrouted track to have selected when doing the tests - ie no Avenger tracks were live. No GUIs open. Here's the results of my two machines:
MACBOOK AIR M2
Cubase 13, Core Audio buffer 256, Asioguard Medium - 48 tracks
After this point I got CPU overs but it would still play after a little grumbling.
WIN 7820X (overclocked to 3.6ghz)
Cubase 13, RME Babyface buffer 256, Asioguard Low - 72 tracks
More tracks made Cubase 13 unstable, I'd get CPU overs but it was playing okay at 80 tracks.
If this test is actually a useful metric, I can add these repro steps to the OP.
EDIT - actually this might be better in its own thread.
EDIT - performance issues and tests thread here - viewtopic.php?t=604535

Of course, all synths have sounds, don't they?, sound is not that important as long as no synth has a real bad sound. For me it's the features, what can I do with the synth, how does a synth support and push my creativity?!ATS wrote: Sun Dec 03, 2023 8:53 amYou really think Air Xpand2 sound as good as Avenger?DCrown wrote: Sun Dec 03, 2023 8:11 amPresets and sound quality only/mainly?ATS wrote: Sun Dec 03, 2023 7:11 am What synths is better than this? Instead of focusing on something like good or better sound, I prefer focusing on new sounds created by oneself and composing.
