Find me a song where all that modulation and modern (hardware) tech is used and that has songwriting and melody like a good new order song. Lots of modular or granular stuff that's droning boringly for minutes on the internet, but very little songs.

Drones are not songs; they are sound.
You can be creative in any right place on Earth, and not only in the wealthiest cities. Bring the world feelings from everywhere, and not only feelings of capitalistic or jail environment.

That seems like a pretty easy thing to implement. Have u-he or Synapse Audio expressed any interest in doing it?zerocrossing wrote: Sun Dec 03, 2023 4:11 pm For instance, there is not a convincing analog emulation that can do the kind of polyphonic per-voice morphing that my PolyBrute or Nina can do.

That's your opinion. And this is mine.

I’m not so sure it is. If you have a decent amount of destinations and sources all possibly modulating something while all the sources are also being modulated… and you’re trying to make sure audio rate modulation is happening at a good quality… that’s a lot. Since Arturia obviously knows how to implement it, at least in hardware, you’d think it would have shown up in their software too, yet no. Cypher II has it, but not something that can be used in real time. Same with MSoundFactory. It obviously can be done, I just don’t think it can be done and get to a level of emulation of plugins like RePro, Legend, OB-E, etc. I’d love to be proven wrong, and I assume I will be at some point, but it’s not today.Uncle E wrote: Sun Dec 03, 2023 5:59 pmThat seems like a pretty easy thing to implement. I remember having a revelation when I first started listening to ambient. A lightbulb went on and I realized that the melody wasn’t in the fundamental, it was in the harmonics. A drone can absolutely be a song, of course, like all music there are good and bad songs.

You’ll be found dead in a tangle of that one day and the coroner report will read, “auto erotic asphyxiation.”
