you forgot to take the square root :dog:

8+0+8 = √16 = 4
√d16 = d4
december √16 = december 4

Ok so yesterday night I finally had the chance to test drive this plugin. Spent 5h just messing in drumazon 2. Time just flew by and had a lot of fun. Here's my thoughts so far.

At first the routing is not the most intuitive. I think it's one of those plugin where RTFM is essential. That being said once the manual was read it all made logical sense. The effect section routing is very flexbile but has a learning curve thats for sure. The presets are amazing and there is a lot of presets included. The way they made preset for sounds only, pattern only or scenes wich is combination of both is wonderful. I'm not the type of guy that would get a lot of use out of the pre made pattern but i really like having the ability to make my own pattern and than just flipping throught the different sounds. Some of them sound glorius and really show how versatile the 909 sounds are in combination with effects. Another thing I really like is the way the randomization works. The Next/previous button is so much better than just a Dice button that you can't recall something you liked. Also the density slider is genius for creating variations of different energy level in seconds. I often Just copy my pattern to the next page change the denisty of a few sounds and do it again. I easily get to 12 variations in no time. overall it's a one stop shop for anything 909.

I've just bought this last and love it but there's 5ms latency that's not being reported to the DAW (Bitwig). Latency is not a bad thing and 5ms is not much but it should be reported to the host so it can compensate and it shouldn't be necessary to disable lookahead etc. to get the drum hits to line up with the beats. Is this a known issue that will be fixed? I have no plugin delay compensation issues with any other plugins.

try switching off all effects, it's maybe the master effects?

i just had a look in Live, at the preset 909 Saturated (for example)... the bitcrusher alone introduces 1.9ms of latency at 48k with a 256 sample buffer.
there might be bugs with not reporting latency to the daw though. D16 do check here sometimes but always better to email support

try using the VST3, at least in Ableton Live it's usually better and more direct at reporting the current latency.

It is the limiter look-ahead causing it so in order to have it hit exactly on the beats you need to turn off the look-ahead on every drum strip and if you change one of the drums to a different preset then everything gets thrown back again. This is an issue for me if I've spent the time to phase-align the kick and the sub during the side-chain transition or I've moved the snare transient slightly out of the way of the kick to gain some headroom without clipping.

I wouldn't care if the latency was 100ms if it reported it to the DAW so it can compensate but it doesn't (I've checked in Bitwig and FL Studio). Even just putting TDR Limiter 6 GE on a channel introduces 7.7ms of latency but it doesn't matter because it reports it and the DAW compensates for it. I have submitted a ticket but if the advice is to just not use some of the features and also make sure to check if everything is aligned every time I change something then I'll be requesting a refund because a drum machine that doesn't keep accurate time is of no use to me.

Edit: They've responded (kudos for the quick reply) and advised that it should be reporting the latency so hopefully it can be resolved. I hope so because I love the plugin.

I only have the VST3 version installed. The funny thing is I bought this with the refund I got for smart:EQ 4 which is a disaster on Bitwig and their response was "Bitwig isn't on our supported DAW list but we've heard the VST2 version works for some people so try that." No thanks. And while I'm ranting, it appears my comment mentioning this on a White Sea Studio video was quietly deleted. Nothing shady there...

Update: I restored the factory defaults in the plugin and the latency figure appeared so I'm not sure how I managed to break it with just the settings within the plugin but anyway it's working now, D16's support is prompt and friendly (take note Sonible) and all's well with the world.

Sorry for the tangent, but does anyone know how to do an actual midi drag and drop with Drumazon 2? The manual is useless in that area. I know how to grab the supposed "midi" from the plugin UI but when I drag that to the track and try to play it back it plays random garbage. Not sure if I'm missing something but I'm not having success getting midi for the actual pattern in the sequencer into my track. Thanks.

Thanks for going through the trouble of making that screen shot. That is how I'm dragging the midi to my DAW. But when I play back the midi it sounds nothing like the pattern, it is just random drum hits. Other drum plugins let you drag the midi to the DAW and when you play it back it plays the actual drum pattern in the plugin's sequencer. Does it work that way for you? Maybe there is another setting that needs to be set in order to play it back correctly that I'm missing? It's not really explained well in the manual. Thanks.
