Which values of "DARK FACTOR", "NOISE" and "ALIASING" would be the most similar to the modeled hardware unit?
I thought they could be their default (double-click) values, respectively 50%, -70dB and 50%...
...but the detected level of NOISE on an spectrum analyzer is also much lower than what the plugin says.
The default -70dB on the plugin is actually detected peaking at around -160dB on an analyzer.
A value of -10dB on the plugin peaks at around -40dB.
This with all 4 taps active, input/output set to 0dB.
I mean, I don't really care if the plugin value for NOISE matches a meter, but I'd be interested in knowing what the actual self noise of the modelled hardware unit is. Similarly for the behavior of ALIASING and DARK FACTOR, compared to the actual hardware.

I don't mind either if a plugin doesn't sound 100% like the hardware.
All I'm saying is: since the plugin provides those extra parameters which can vastly alter the sound, I'm wondering which values on those parameters most closely match their measurements on their hardware unit.

The hardware unit is exactly modeled in the Init patch. But you are right, the Noise is not reporting the values correctly. The default noise should indeed be -70dB. I'll have a look, I probably used a different scaling for the dB and messed up the InitNiowiad wrote: Tue Dec 05, 2023 10:19 am Which values of "DARK FACTOR", "NOISE" and "ALIASING" would be the most similar to the modeled hardware unit?

Ok, I've uploaded a beta version in the user area. If you are testing the demo and want the installer, just contact us.

I purchased the full version yesterday, after your reply.audiothing wrote: Wed Dec 06, 2023 5:04 pm Ok, I've uploaded a beta version in the user area. If you are testing the demo and want the installer, just contact us.
The beta works fine. The noise level is coherent across the entire range.
Thanks.

You can also scale the windows manually by clicking and dragging the bottom-right corner.DCrown wrote: Wed Dec 06, 2023 7:15 pm 3 gui/window sizes - very good!
What was the original 70s unit mainly used for?
The original was trying to replace the more expensive multi-head tape/magnetic echo effects. It's lighter and doesn't have any moving parts, so it was much better to carry around.

I was not going to buy another plugin this year, that's why I have bought, I simply like it, it's a plugin with some special character.
I also like Audiothing Valves on electric pianos, organs, clavi, made a lot of own presets
