These delays seem to have a similar "key feature", in that you can insert FX into the feedback path.

Anybody have both and can compare/contrast them?

In my view, the most significant feature of MFM is the insanely flexible routing between the 4 lines (the matrix is awesome). Oh and also the very powerful modulation tools applicable to all kinds of mod destinations.

Interesting. Is having the FX in the delay lines a useful feature?

yes. it's kind of the point really. a filter in a delay line has been a thing for delays for a long long time. MFM expands on this and the feedback aspect can lead to all kinds of sound design places.

demo MFM and put a beat through it and go through the presets. it will quickly reveal the benefits of the flexibility it offers. feedback is a really powerful thing.

Filtescape is also worth mentioning.

Okay, so it's a useful feature. Any opinions about the way MFM implements it vs. Modley?

Modley looks pretty cool with the pre-loop-post sections, and also quite simpler than MFM, with a single delay-line and a predefined signal path, although you can stack and reorder many effects/modules on that path.

To me it looks like they specialize on different things. MFM on the interaction of the 4 lines with complex routing and modulation possibilities, Modley on the ease of use and a more straightforward workflow based on that "pre->loop->post" structure.

yeah.. they are very different things. so.. OP should buy both! of course.

but w/anything like these if someone has an interest and question about features it's always best to download the demos and have a go and see which one is more useful/inspiring etc.

Thanks for your input, folks. I contacted U-He about maybe adding a few more FX slots in the feedback path of MFM, possibly (versions of) the Uhbiks, but was told the age of the code might make it difficult to update the plugin's architecture to accommodate this.

But I would love to see this

Don't worry, I didn't forget where I am. :hihi:
