Outrageous
It tracks your work and uses it
And they want us to pay to do it
No wonder this took priority over AD and AK updates.

Iiiiii had some fun with it and then it started crashing CONSTANTLY. I hope it clears up, I've had this problem before with some version releases of XLN software.

Imagine if they start selling soundpacks, you buy one and it's most of your own work 😂😂😂

ehm, doesnt it only upload the recordings you put in to LIFE? or also the loop / rhythm thats made by life (which is probably the thing you'd use in a track).

Like someone mentioned before, i think this plugin needs to be seen as a timesaver and quick idea to get some rhytmic loops from random recordings of the environment with a phone, to get some inspiration.

In that sense; its not like they have the rights to use your 'work' as it was not any work at all.

As long as you don't use a recording of your wife moaning during sex, I don't see the big problem.
(apart from the price, max 75 usd would have been more realistic)

ps: at JRRshop, with code 'group' , its 90 usd

I wonder if this started out as an update idea for XO? The drum machine/editing bit is taken directly from XO.
X32 and 24C mixers, S88MK3, Live + PUSH 3, Osmose, RedShift 6, Pro3, S4, Tempera, Syntakt, Digitone, OP1-F, OPXY, TR-1000, Eurorack, TD27 Drums, Guitars, Basses, Amps and of course lots of pedals!

It uploads any sample you drag and drop into life.

This has gone from 'seems fun but expensive' to 'are you f**king kidding me, XLN?'. The only thing they could have done to make things even worse would have been adding a subscription model. :dog:

whats your main gripe with this? the fact that you need an internet connection? the fear that XLN will steal your amazing content and make money of it while you can't?

For me it's not fear as such just that I would not want people just doing whatever they like with something I create. If I record something and mess about with it in life i would kinda be annoyed to see it appear somewhere else especially if i was using it myself in a track which was as yet unfinished. It's not a money thing as I make very little from my work 😂

It should be something you opt into imo.

Its a shame as the idea of life is good just a little too intrusive for me to consider buying it.

For $109 they should let me download your samples, tracks and porn from the cloud, too!

I agree w these points strongly.

Also the principal of not being able to opt out, and the possibility of future data brokering (I worked for a company that did this already in another field, as the main source of revenue). Again, I'm not claiming XLN are bad people or not being transparent, but they could pull a Moog and sell off to somebody else, and I'm not comfortable with the release of any IP in this way. The language goes far beyond using this for training purposes and gives them carte blanche on anything they'd like to do. Given how grounded in law sample copyright is, I'm kind of surprised they are doing this. (As a side note, what if their model is trained on commercial samples uploaded by users, or by a user overhearing a song in a coffee shop? Are they now liable for policing that? etc etc)

I played a little bit more with Life and just like the previous day, the same rhythms came up over and over, just different impact sounds at the same places due to a different source file. Playing the with the sound and pattern controls did very little to disguise the fact that this product is extremely limited in what it produces. And now that the mask has been taken off regarding their blatant nullifying of copyright on your uploaded source files, well, there is precious little to recommend supporting this company in any way. Those who bought this dead rat on impulse are going to be very disappointed. Those who work at XLN would do well to seek other employment as this company has done nothing for years to appease their pissed-off customers. Thank goodness I am not one of them.

I think we need a popcorn emoji.

And why does everything have to disintegrate into a drama these days? Inform yourself before you buy something and then make the purchase or not. It’s really not that difficult.
