Logic Pro - Record Enable when selecting track behavior changed

I'm not very smart about all this - I just know that I liked the old behavior. In my case it seems fairly recently that it changed, like this year at some point? I used to just select a Software Instrument track and Record Enabled would switch to that track and be turned off on other tracks. OK I'm not sure I'm describing that correctly, but I know that when I selected a track it alone would receive MIDI data - pretty sure the red R button would light up automatically for just the track I selected. Is there any way to restore that behavior? Thanks!

Are you selecting pressing the R button or just selecting the track header when moving to other tracks?

Thanks for your reply. I’m just clicking in the track header. That used to switch the red record enabled R to the track I select, so it was quick and easy to switch from playing say, a piano track to a synth track etc.

Okay just wanted to make sure. Make sure Enable Performance Recording is disabled, that’s probably what’s happening. You should see the button in the Live Loop area its an R on the top left. If it’s red disable it.

THANK YOU!!!!! Looks like it was a glitch. Enable Performance Recording WAS disabled, but toggling it on and off fixed the problem system-wide in Logic. Really wonderful. Just updated Logic and am now having the same issue except disabling the Enable Performance Recording
button doesn’t fix it.
Any other way to have the selected track automatically armed to record the way it used to work?
Thanks,
Carl
