Anybody tried Sixth Sample's Deelay? I think it's quite cool and also free... sometimes, especially for not too tricky sound and delay paths, it's even quicker to dial than the other major contenders involved in this thread ...

I read your post because that's what you do when you're responding to a thread. Seemed kinda smug but whatever, certainly didn't seem like an insightful enough post for me to not respond to a subthread that emerged here that interested me.audiouser720 wrote: Sat Dec 09, 2023 8:50 amNah mate, I was referring to this (quoting myself):swilow11 wrote: Sat Dec 09, 2023 8:41 amAmazingly, discussion evolved organically on a an internet message board and you noticed it. CoCo doesn't seem to lead to weird fluctuations in soundscape, I think at least a portion of the more immediate taps gets through. But ReplikaXT is more versatile and really nicely cuts through the mix without leading to muddiness. A pity it seems to crash Cubase a bit.
So, Colour Copy, IMHO, sounds better both in isolation and in the mix than both Echoboy and VDelay.There.

But worry no more, I’m not blaming you. I’ve been waiting for you. And I agree with your observations on Replika and Colour Copy.
The obvious advice is to use both Colour Copy and Replika. And what about Tal Dub X?

Maybe because it’s an extremely useful feature?

I see it the same way.audiouser720 wrote: Fri Dec 08, 2023 4:05 pmExactly, agreed. Ilok winsegbert101 wrote: Fri Dec 08, 2023 3:15 pm One uses iLok and one doesn't. So pretty clear which is better.

I don’t like Tal Dub X. It to me sounds, excuse me for not able to find a more professional description, somewhat plasticity.swilow11 wrote: Sat Dec 09, 2023 11:52 pmI read your post because that's what you do when you're responding to a thread. Time based effect are typically used as a send effect, so use a side chain compressor or EQ

Can you show some links to your music where you use VDelay?Frantz wrote: Sat Dec 09, 2023 1:35 am I use Valhalla Delay on every track I make. It has good presets and is simple enough that you can quickly dial in the effect you are looking for. It is also actively developed.
I have Echoboy but haven't used it in years. It's fine but not a first choice for me these days. Soundtoys seems to be more or less done with new development and are in a kind of maintenance mode.

I like Valhalla way more. Its mainly bc of the modern interface. I dont like those hardware looking interfaces. Timeless 3 too complex for my taste in comparison. so too me for my music valhalla wins all the way.

I love echoboy and valhalla delay. Would it be 1 of them i would take valhalla why?
It supports higher resolutions, soundtoys really are slow updating if at all, and i always prefer offline serial key stuff and no ilok and other online stuff. Way to go.

Ah yes, buying from Valhalla page gets you a cracked plugin, for real.DCrown wrote: Sat Dec 09, 2023 9:06 am iLok is the guarantee that you haven't purchased cracked versions, so maybe go for iLok, it's safer.

Especially the Ping Pong delay always sounded wrong with Valhalla. Sean once explained that he implemented something differently... however, ValhallaDelay never worked for me, Echoboy always works perfectly. Apart from Echoboy, I find NI Replika better than Valhalla for the typical delays that you use most of the time. But for very special delay effects there are better plugins anyway, e.g. Fabfilter Timeless.
So, for me it's definitely Echoboy but also NI Replika XT but I also like the H-Delay from Waves.
