That would be a nice way to do it, but some might complain about too many free floating windows, or the potential for clutter.
Personally I've often thought it would be great if the synths etc in the standard Reason DAW weren't constrained to the rack and could pop out into an undocked and more detailed GUI layout window, then docked back into the rack for neatness and organisation. I don't think this would ever catch on due to the sheer amount of alternative GUI layout design work involved. Example, like being able to see all 3 of Europa's oscillators at the same time on a single page layout, rather than the one at a time layout restrictions enforced by the rack width and general sensible size for a rack synth.
Sorry, that rant was a bit OT.

I’m interested to know the percentage of users who “still use very outdated software” a la eMagic Logic on a Windows machine or in this case Reason 7 or earlier as mentioned in the video.
I mean I’m sure if you could count them on one hand there would still be the social media inflated uproar of them demanding a company support old infrastructure to accommodate them, but just curious as to how big/small this group is.
There’s bigger hills to die on now days I guess is my official stance as a Reason user.

I have Reason 11 Intro and seem to still be able to login to it using my account credentials.
Is this way of accessing it going to disappear in the near future or if I install it on a different PC?

That sounds like the online login/authorization method, which should continue to work. The outcry is the loss of being able to do offline activations for previous versions of Reason, or to use versions earlier than version 8.agharta wrote: Mon Dec 11, 2023 12:41 am I have Reason 11 Intro and seem to still be able to login to it using my account credentials.

Also, I wonder if the above video has anything to do with this new sticky over at the ReasonTalk Forums lol:

Ok. Just came here from watching Louis Rossman's video. I'm sorry, I don't ancourage pirating, but I have to agree with him on some of the things there.
I teach my friends music production if I see passion in their eyes and I always strongly emphesize to them that they should not steal software. Just the other day I was having a drink with a friend who I teached to produce a while back. That kid is not rich. Like at all. He rent2owned Serum and now he's saving money for full Ableton license. I quote: "...well in worst case I'll stay on the one version I bought forever, right?" Not making this up. That's direct (translated) quotation. From now on I can not recommend Reason to anybody in his situation.
...and it kinda makes me sad to see how people on this forum fail to reckognize their priviledge. To assume that everyone is capable of paying for updates regularly? I am. You are. But that makes us lucky. And not everyone is as lucky. Developers need to care about one-time buyers. Bacause that's the courageous kids that fought the urge to steal. Period. ...I'm glad Rossman did this video. PR that Reason Studios gets from this is very well deserved. Sorry.

Well when you are not happy about a company product, the normal reasoning is to "not buy the product". Not steal it.FarleyCZ wrote: Thu Dec 14, 2023 9:59 am Ok. We can try to find any excuse we want but stealing is stealing.
Of course the reason 7 issue is a bit extreme but who has a windows 2 install disk and expect it to connect normally?
My choice if I wasn't having the budget to buy softwares would be definitely to go to modern freeware over deprecated unsupported paid products.

Great point I somehow forgot about. With the insane amount of insanely great freeware available nowadays, there is really no need to pirate music software.Jac459 wrote: Fri Dec 15, 2023 1:21 am My choice if I wasn't having the budget to buy softwares would be definitely to go to modern freeware over deprecated unsupported paid products.
Keyword being “need”, since all of this, including Reason, revolves around 1st world “wants”. But as it’s been since the beginning of pirating, people will always find a way to convince themselves they are in the right so they can justify stealing something they want.

I've been on this forum long enough to know that whatever I reply to this will get me in trouble with mods. But no. You don't see the whole picture. You look at it from a position of someone who's fairly DAW agnostic. Not from point of a new kid that is about to learn their first DAW and wants to be sure it's the right one. I don't adore stealing ... but when people just do it around me, the best I can do is try to sway them over the bright side. ...and the bullcrap Reason Studios just did does not help me in that misson, sorry.Jac459 wrote: Fri Dec 15, 2023 1:21 amWell when you are not happy about a company product, the normal reasoning is to "not buy the product". I would absolutely expect that Windows 2 will install without issue on appropriate hardware (or an appropriate VM).Jac459 wrote: Fri Dec 15, 2023 1:21 am Of course the reason 7 issue is a bit extreme but who has a windows 2 install disk and expect it to connect normally?
Funnily enough Microsoft weren't requiring consumers to connect to activation servers in the 1980s.

The way i see it with Piracy is that it is good to know that you have a Backup that will work if a Company decide to screw you over with your perpetual license or if you don't like the copy protection method of the Product you bought.

I am absolutely not DAW agnostic but at one moment, not stealing a product should matter...FarleyCZ wrote: Tue Dec 19, 2023 9:07 amI've been on this forum long enough to know that whatever I reply to this will get me in trouble with mods. If I don't have money, I would value open source as a way to not be dependant from a piracy group (and the associate risks).
