They are talking about the ReValver 5 VST host module not being able to host VST3 plugins. I haven’t tried ReValver 5 (or 4, can’t be arsed) but I’ve seen posts here and on the Gear Page saying the same.morelia wrote: Tue Dec 12, 2023 6:42 am R5 has a vst3 version. Are some people not seeing it? Or are they talking about R4?

Yes, the program is a VST3 but the rack a not host VST3 (one of the advertised features is that it hosts VSTs, I thought this would be quite cool with Strymon VST Pedals etc but useless for me without VST3 as that is now all I have/use.

Seems like a really bad oversight. To see that R5 needs to be vst3 but not the loader just seems odd.SLiC wrote: Tue Dec 12, 2023 8:16 am Yes, the program is a VST3 but the rack a not host VST3 (one of the advertised features is that it hosts VSTs, I thought this would be quite cool with Strymon VST Pedals etc but useless for me without VST3 as that is now all I have/use.

I think the release was late. Wasn't it due last month? Maybe they had to meet some sort of deadline. I could be wrong. It wouldn't be the first or the last time.

Maybe, Developers need to learn that pushing stuff out when its isn't ready causes more problems than it solves (look at MassiveX!) I tried it- didn't like the copy protection, couldn't load a VST...deleted it. Maybe if they add VST3 and make it not need a hardware USB device I will try again.

I really don't understand why people go with this antagonostic attitude and insinuate "blackmail" straight out of the gate when it could've just been an error. like, dude, they're not out to get you. they're just a software company. they've taken over someone else's codebase and probably messed something up accidentally, things happen. "blackmail" my ass lol dude get a life, you're not that important.CapnLockheed wrote: Wed Dec 06, 2023 7:40 pm I just reached out to Michael and gave Headrush "customer support" a chunk of my mind.
If inMusic/HeadRush doesn't give me some kind of reacharound I'm done. I waited on Peavey to do SOMETHING or ANYTHING for almost ten years, but at least I could still use MY software. I'm about ready to just say f#ck it...fire up my amp and dust off my pedal board.
Here's what I sent 'em:
"I was glad to see R5 has finally made it into the software realm. I've installed and registered the R5 core version. The GUI is quite nice. I see you are still using the server/ampstore/USB device license scheme. R5 accepted my Peavey credentials...and downloaded some new models. BUT....your server deactivated my R4 license!! I thought I could run R4 & R5 "Free" side by side but the server hosed all my R4 modules. They are all now in demo mode. I have been a part of ReValver and worked with Michael Ljunggren since V1, (see attached pic), and his company Alien Connections even before ReValver was a concept!! Not very nice. And not a good way to treat a long time, loyal & well-established customer base. I OWN ReValver 4 and would like to continue using it. Blackmailing me into buying ReValver 5 is not a good way to start a relatioship with a client. And I thought Peavey was bad."
I don't know what to write here that won't be censored, as I can only speak in profanity.

If you took the time to read the rest of my responses in this thread you'd know that the problem was addressed and fixed by members of the original team who are longtime friends and colleagues. There is no anymosity between us whatsoever. I was not slagging them at all. My concern was with inMusic which is not a software company so much as a giant corporate "music" conglomerate. I'm far from alone in slagging inMusic. I could post hundreds of links to other people doing just that and long before I ever got involved with them. The rollout was not done well. The Headrush forums are full of posts from other frustrated users. As are the forums of the other brands they've "acquired". This was not the fault of the devs in anyway. It was simply due to the corporate bean counters applying pressure to push product out the door in time for the holidays. And BTW.....this was on the heels of nearly ten years of neglect under the Peavey/AMR corporate banner. Given that history, I had every reason to be concerned with issues stemming from current and future corporate mismanagement of a project I have been personally invested in for twenty years.
You have a nice day.

Yeah, unfortunately inMusic looks like a musically themed tax shelter on paper. Hopefully ReValver can prosper, but there might not be much support or incentive from corporate to succeed. Hope I’m wrong about that.
I wish ReValver could go back to Alien Connections and just be privately owned again. Or, maybe better yet, if Michael’s Alien Connections could return with an all new from scratch amplifier simulation software suite.

Agree 100%. R5 is a step forward. But there was also initial progress under Peavey....at first before they put it on a shelf and allowed it to calcify. ReValver was way ahead of the curve years ago. I'm glad to see some forward movement but it remains to be seen if inMusic will allow it grow or just try to squeeze out of it what they can as it is. I'm a liitle wary. inMusic's reputation is, at best, a bit questionable. They outright LIE about ReValver on their main page:guitarzan wrote: Thu Dec 14, 2023 11:51 pm Yeah, unfortunately inMusic looks like a musically themed tax shelter on paper. You and I both know that's pure bullsh#t.The ReValver product line was originally created by Peavey Electronics Corporation; the product line was spun out into a separate company AMR. AMR joined the inMusic Family in 2020.

I saw a review of ReValver 5 with an even more in-depth “alternate history” tying Peavey with ReValver going back 20 years. It’s like Bizzaro World. I looked for a comments section to try to point out the errors but there was none.CapnLockheed wrote: Fri Dec 15, 2023 3:41 am They outright LIE about ReValver on their main page:

Oh yeah, that was a great time for Revalver development. Hopefully not the only time or best time. We'll see I guess.guitarzan wrote: Thu Dec 14, 2023 11:51 pm I wish ReValver could go back to Alien Connections and just be privately owned again.
