I think he might have changed that after a while on later versions.
This is what it looks like on my GUI, which I think is the XXL Rack Edition.

Image

It's only affecting the EFECTS ON/OFF button.
All other buttons still behave with that same very little change in color, but they either:
- don't need to display a specific state (you just press to open a menu / call a function)
- they show a different text when clicked (the CC button)

edit: actually I just saw there are a couple buttons in EDIT mode (such as the PP button) which could have benefitted of the same treatment, but at least the most important one in the main screen seems fixed :/

Who cares about the truth when he could have a good rant instead...

Forgot there's the Rack Edition version, I use the non-rack version so I've access to the virtual keyboard section

Post

Great synth but it looks too bad imo.I'll stick with my old version until there's a skin I can look at all day if they decide to make one.

This is not even the correct color of a SEM, which is more cream, less brown. Ugh.

Vomit colour not to your liking?
<list your stupid gear here>

Post

Haven't seen a brown like that since my first puppy. What were they thinking?

Post

Maybe Sonic Project's OB-X used for reference was borrowed from a roadie that's been smoking 25 a day next to it for the past 40 years

- A newly organized logically structured interface with NO hidden features anymore
- A new hybrid patch browser both emulating the former banks as well as offering new features
- The new features include a search function, favourites and category tagging
- The whole included patches library (3'000 sounds in 5'333 files) is pre-tagged which was loads of work!
- Directly upward compatible to OP-X PRO-II presets, import function for own custom banks
- Even partly downward compatible for the common features
- 2 alterative low-cpu versions (ECO and LC) plus a max-cpu clone (OP-MTX) for parallel installation
- Improved audio quality (max CPU version)
- 5 envelopes (!) - 4 polyphonic/per-voice, 1 global/mono
- 4 LFOs (!) - 3 global, 1 per-voice (so x12)
- 10 filter types (!) - 7 lopass (4 new) plus hipass, bandpass, notch
- Modulation effects (Chorus, Double-Chorus, Flanger, Chorus-Flanger, Phaser, Ensemble)
- Modulation effects adopted from Stringer and so include the iconic Solina and Omni ensemble effect!
- A Modulation Matrix with 5 slots offering incredible modulation possibilities!
- E.g. even the voice-trimpots can be used as modulation source!
- The slots also can modulate each other (Mx1 - Mx5 Amt)!
- Switchable note priority (last, lowest, highest) in unison mode
- Voice-boards view and re-settable voices (manual, on song start)
- Pitchbend up/down and modwheel modes separatly settable
- Pitchwheel and modwheel fully detachable in the Matrix for free mapping in the Matrix
- Chord hold now also can be fixed using the pedal
- Pedal hold for the arpeggiator switchable off (active by default)
- One single CC now can be mapped to multiple controls
- Smoothed aftertouch input for stepping free performance also with low resolution keybeds
- Includes the whole OP-X PRO-II library including all reload banks
- Countless new sounds showing off the new features
- Many new famous 80s sounds!

...and much more! The list is endless!

For the full list of new features and changes select the "featurelist" item in the top-menu of the product site.

As an OP-X PRO-II licensee you can get the new monster synth for a small crossgrade fee!
The awesome new sounds included (about 300) alone are worth more!
Check out the free demo version!

For the cross-grade you have to log in with your OP-X PRO-II license data.
If you lost it PLEASE DON'T EMAIL US ATM but on the contact site (top right) click this link on the right:
"Lost your license data? Click here for help"

The used color scheme in SEM style gives you a fresh and new looking synth!
We may add an alternative dark skin in the future as well.

The same as the newest versions of OP-X PRO-II and Stringer OP-X PRO-3 is native M silicon compatible.
The Mac installers are certified by Apple and so don't trigger Gatekeeper.
The Windows installers were security-checked by Microsoft and so pass SmartScreen.

OP-X PRO-3 installs in parallel to OP-X PRO-II and doesn't touch or replace it.
So both OP-X PRO-II and OP-X PRO-3 can be used alongside.
Since OP-X PRO-3 includes all OP-X PRO-II sounds it even could be used as librarian for OP-X PRO-II!

A non-upgrade license (so not crossgrading from OP-X PRO-II) includes OP-X PRO-II.
So you don't have to decide which one to buy.
OP-X PRO-II remains available and supported. OP-X PRO-3 doesn't replace it.

This is fantastic!!! I bought v.2 back when I was still using Windows. I wonder if this new version will work on Linux with WINE and yabridge! :D

Less enthousiastic about the gui. New background colour makes it more difficult to read the text and it's a bit fuzzy at the largest size. The extra knobs make it crowded.
Guess the change to brownish grey is inspired by the competition.
Can't be a SEM, those are white.
It has been a while since I've used this product, but I thought one was able to change the colors on the theme.....

The web site is still the original from back in the days when websites normally looked like this. It's a legit site, and was at one time the best OB-X available as a plugin. With v.3, it may be again.....

I like the brown color.
Doing nothing is only fun when you have something you are supposed to do.

I guess after working with it for a couple of hours, you know where stuff is, despite the crowded interface with all its abbreviations.

Some labels are odd and inconsistent. For instance Filterenv vs Filter Env; Reson. and Portam. but Filt and Env without a dot. Things like that...

Why is the Volume knob not centered?

Post

OK. We have a consensus on the GUI. My question, is how much of an improvement has there been with the sound compared to the previous version, and how does the sound compare to modern-day synths such as the latest and best Oberheim plugins?

....because to me, the sound is the MOST important thing...

Not even PolyPhonic Aftertouch. Sonic Projects has joined the pack of developers who don't want my money.
