Isn't the VA section based on the Moog Mini too? Because of the 3 osc architecture I may have made that connect. You're right - that would be great, if they update it in tandem!briefcasemanx wrote: Wed Dec 13, 2023 6:29 am Yes please pretty please can we get the new Moog filter in Pigments?
Although I think the worst part of Pigments is the awful sounding oscillators in the "VA" section. Wish they could make those oscillators not sound like hot garbage (worse than the oscillators in even the worst of their emulations).

It's a fair point re KVR, especially when you know the intro prices are always higher than they will eventually go. And great to hear someone is happy with the collection. But...bonch wrote: Wed Dec 13, 2023 4:20 am Four pages of pricing chat before discussion of how the instruments sound. Never change, KVR.
The new Mini sounds great. A cool feature I haven't seen in the other popular emulations is the button that compensates for low end loss at high resonance. Nice for adding bite to the top end of a bass. The Mini was one of the older synths that people liked to trash Arturia for, and now that they've updated it, they're getting trashed for updating it. Obviously, they were going to redo the Mini at some point, and they put out a lot of other stuff before they got to it, so I think it was the right time. I hope the Moog Modular is next.
I'm really enjoying Augmented Woodwinds. Some people get upset that the Augmented instruments are included in V collection without realizing that the Augmented plug-ins are full of synth layers to, well, augment the real instruments.
I barely used the previous version of Wurli, so I don't know how it sounded, but the new one sounds good. I might turn to it more often now that I've explored it in the update.
The CP-70 sounds great. It has a cozy sound. I'm going to use this.
I already had Acid. I don't know how accurately it's meant to emulate a 303 so much as it's inspired by it and the genre it created. I use ABL3 for that genre, but the sequencer is fun to play with, and I can see using Acid for leads as well.
I think Augmented Grand Piano was also added to the collection in this update. As expected, it's a piano augmented with sample layers. I use Piano more often, but I can see myself turning to this for a different sound.
However good the new Mini is - and the presets in Analog Lab are wonderful - its inherent difference to the alternatives can never be anything more than slight. Nice to have, sure, but very much inessential. The Wurli, ditto really. I have a personal aversion to the CP70 where I consider it close to a musical crime. The Acid is a sort of one trick pony, though the trick is quite fun. And that just leaves the Augmented series, which I haven't tried aside from Strings and Voices which generally seem to fall into a wash of okay - familiar territory without making a distinctive mark.
So all pricing concerns aside, this remains a fairly disappointing release overall purely from my own perspective.

The more I think about how I kinda want to upgrade for the new Mini, the more I'm thinking I might actually really enjoy augmented woodwinds. I do kind of like the sound of woodwinds, but straight sample libraries are too "orchestral" to vibe with the music I make. Some cool flutes and stuff mixed with synth flutes might actually be just the ticket. I might check it out.
Every new video I watch, the Mini V sounds STUPID good.
Off to update Analog Lab to check out the new Mini presets...

I did this today. I bought right around the same time. Right after I bought it I came to KVR and saw a thread on volume 10. Now 10 is out right after I bought 9 and probably the same price for 10 I would of had anyhow.machinesworking wrote: Wed Dec 13, 2023 7:50 amI would email them.nikilugli wrote: Wed Dec 13, 2023 7:47 am I've just bought V collection 9 november 25...now 199 for upgrading...bah!![]()

With bass compensation for the filter at high resonance in the updated Mini V, I wonder if BONES might even like it now?
Peace, my friends. I'm not seeking arguments here.

If you bought during the BF sale you got V9 at a discounted price. They do this on purpose right before every new V-Collection releases to get more people on the upgrade bandwagon.ATS wrote: Wed Dec 13, 2023 8:29 amI did this today. Take a single oscillator, producing a drone. Send it to the wave shaper, altering the tone.
This can be a triangle, Sawtooth or a square. Modulate the pulse width, nobody will care

I purchased it after I posted it here. Playing with it for the last 45 min. Only making bass patches. So barely scratched the surface. This will sound hyperbolic and whatnot because I am the guy who constantly complains about the sound of many VST instruments. And while sounding unreal it is true for me: I have never been more inspired to play with softsynth than with this beauty.
This is on the next level when it comes to sound. The filter is cream of the cream so is the drive and overall tones are unheard of. This instrument growl, spread, spit, and sounds like a Moog.
This new sound engine is what I have been wanting to hear from VST since 20 years ago. This sounds convincing.
And I only scratched the surface. And yes it sounds much much better to me than the UA version or the Legend. I also have Monark. For some reason, I always saw Diva as something else therefore not mentioning it here for the sound.
I wholeheartedly recommend anyone - download a trial and try it yourself.
offtopic: I can only dream that they will pursue and adapt the same latest technology to their Modular V.

wish I knew that because now it seems would cost me $300 instead of $200 for 10.AdvancedFollower wrote: Wed Dec 13, 2023 9:35 amIf you bought during the BF sale you got V9 at a discounted price. Strange! I have logged in today and can't find my VC9 license! Arturia has removed it?!! Anyway, let's see their support what answer they have! I found the other license, but only this one has gone! So, all the instruments belong to it are demo now!
Using: Cubase Pro 15, Reason 13, Tascam US-4x4HR, MODX6, DM12D, LaunchKey 49, Yamaha guitar(Pacifica 612v) and bass (BB234) and some virtual instruments and synths.

Just checked with mine. It's right in place where it belongs. Just with a sticker next to it, telling me I may upgrade at lower prices (nudge, nudge)...EnGee wrote: Wed Dec 13, 2023 11:04 am Strange!
