This is a reasonable idea.Teksonik wrote: Wed Dec 13, 2023 1:48 pm The problem with these large collections is there's bound to be stuff that you don't need or want…..
Here's an idea..."Pick 10" for around $150. Pick any 10 Arturia plugins you want, instruments or effects. You get what you want and nothing you don't.

Always the same for years now, $200 upfront to upgrade if you want it now, $100 in six months if you can wait. They once claimed that "$200 was as cheap as it would go" then six months later had a sale at $100. I don't see it changing.egbert101 wrote: Wed Dec 13, 2023 5:00 pm I'm glad they improved Mini V, but I think their upgrade policy for long term loyal customers sucks.

Yeah, that's the thing with a huge collection - I don't have any use for the Buchla, Synthi, any kind of organ whatsoever, the Clavinet, Synthi, Farfisa, and the Vox. Seems like Arturia are trying to round out the Collection this time. I'm sure there are folks who liked seeing the Augmented samplers included in the bundle ( i THINK, lolz ). I however don't have use for them and I don't think they're particularly that great. Why not break them out into smaller more specific bundles? Like how they break them out on their website - Analog Synths, the Digital Collection, Keys & Organs, Acoustic & Electric Pianos, Augmented, etc. They have enough now where that might make sense. As new instruments get developed they'll be added to their respective buckets - specific bundle upgrades would be the new thing. I don't want more Augmented instruments. I don't want more Keys, Organs, EPs.Teksonik wrote: Wed Dec 13, 2023 1:48 pm The problem with these large collections is there's bound to be stuff that you don't need or want. I have no use for electric pianos or brass samples etc.

You have Analog Lab Pro, right? Just update it - there's a good lot of Wurli and Mini 4 patches. In the case of the Wurli, you barely need the full version tbh.Funkybot's Evil Twin wrote: Wed Dec 13, 2023 4:35 pm Ok, so the consensus is that the new Mini sounds great. Anyone disagree? A bass compensating option in the filter does sound like a nice differentiator.
How about the Wurli? The old one was awful at sounding like a real Wurli. Any electric piano snobs want to chime in on the new one and the new CP70? Do we think these are based on Pianoteq?
Nothing else really appeals to me. I've got the 303. Microfreak just doesn't entice me. Even the new Wurli I'm more curious about than actually intending on using (I've got a real one, and I still think the Acoustic Samples VReeds is more than close enough when it comes to a virtual Wurli).
While the upgrade is underwhelming to me, they definitely improved two of their weakest products and added some new stuff to the bundle. At $99 I'd bite. $149? Not so much. But it's still not a bad upgrade IMO. Just not essential to this plugin collector.

I've never understood why developers don't do that, either with their own sales or when advertised separately through retailers. Not just for entire 'collections' like Arturia's, but you often see special deals or sales where only a specific handful of synths or FX are bundled together.Teksonik wrote: Wed Dec 13, 2023 1:48 pm The problem with these large collections is there's bound to be stuff that you don't need or want. I have no use for electric pianos or brass samples etc. I think I counted 14 things in the collection I don't want or need so the cost per item I do want goes up.

I'd be interested in such a deal but right now my "upgrade" price is $399 even though I do own a few Artura plugins and all I have to say to Arturia is....ain't gonna happen....![]()
We Keep hearing how at the end of the day, developers are doing things we don't agree with and realistically we have to accept it because "that's business". But... if that's what it's all about, in what way would they assume they would sell more, by restricting what they're selling? I would understand for a physical product maybe, but not software. How would they not guarantee to sell more, by letting the consumer choose the items that would make them part with their money for sure?
Until forever fades away.

While I appreciate the Mini update, and it was definitely needed eventually, IMO they should have done Modular first. Mini is not that attractive simply because there are so many good Model D VAs already. I think I own all of them except for UA's.
Modular, however, is in great need of an engine and UI update. As something strictly focusing on Moog System 55 emulation (of which Modular V3 is not particularly accurate), Pulsar 900 is its only real competitor, and that's not even available at present, and when they re-release it, the price will be outrageous.

I think they should have done the arp 2600 first. Not really any great emulations of those out there. But there are about a half dozen amazing minis. Then they could have done the modular and mini at the same time.
I really don't get why they didn't include that cool mini vowel filter in the effects slots.
And while it's nice that the new mini is mpe, I was really hoping for more if their digital ones to go mpe, especially dx7 and synclavier.

The fact that there is such strong competition among Minimoog emulations, and that the Mini is the V Collection’s flagship synth in many ways is why Arturia had to do Mini V4 now.
A business that cedes ground to the competition is one that doesn’t stay in business very long.
Less popular synths with no competition can wait.

Good call. Will do that eventually. But may not be any time in the next few days. So if folks want to share any additional impressions, I'm still curious and would love to hear others thoughts before I have time to make up my mind about 'em.noiseboyuk wrote: Wed Dec 13, 2023 5:36 pm You have Analog Lab Pro, right? Agree here. Doing the Mini first makes sense to me.jamcat wrote: Wed Dec 13, 2023 6:58 pm The fact that there is such strong competition among Minimoog emulations, and that the Mini is the V Collection’s flagship synth in many ways is why Arturia had to do Mini V4 now.

How do you filter by the Mini 4 patches? I updated to the latest Analog Lab and only see a way to sort by "Mini" but I have no idea how to find the Mini 4 patches. Unbelievable that they still haven't fixed the user draw wave in virtual cz .v
I know the original code was done by Oli Larken , but the userwave is totally wrong ( probably some ntern that screwed up )
I reported the bug a yea ago and it's just remains ignored .
The interpolation of the phasor should occur across the x-axis and not the Y-axis .
See picture , the yellow BASE line reads the cosine in a straight line , no phase disortion going , the blue line is the TARGET , expected behaviour of the dcw is indicated by the red line , it should move across the X-axis

Instead it moves the (invisible) breakpoint on the blue line down across the Y-axis indicated by the white arrow , this is not how it's supposed to be and does not sound remotely similar to the otherwise excellent emulation

This is how it should be

For userwave phase distortion , zebra is still king using the osc pd effect ( except when it comes to the resowaves which it sadly can't do )
Arturia , fix your shit
