New mic arrived, sounds pretty good, but it hasn’t turned me into someone who could successfully pull off George Michael

Pricing a new electric. Likely get some $500 Squier given I play horribly due to lack of practice. No need to hork up for a PRS.

I have a Squier J Mascis signature JazzMaster that I prefer way more than my ‘real’ Fender Strat.
No idea if anywhere still has any in stock, but they’re real keepers.

Love the look, hate the slide switches. I don't think that you can get any cheaper than my squire partscaster tele. It's fugly, but it's the guitar I place the most. I routed it myself and added an aftermarket nashville tele pickguard.WatchTheGuitar wrote: Thu Dec 14, 2023 11:35 pm I have a Squier J Mascis signature JazzMaster that I prefer way more than my ‘real’ Fender Strat.

Not gonna lie though, I want a new guitar and I want to part with the five or six cheap things that I already have. Maybe that will happen, maybe it won't.

I never use the switches, don’t like the muddy secondary circuit so don’t use it.ghettosynth wrote: Fri Dec 15, 2023 7:57 amLove the look, hate the slide switches. Replacement power supply arrived and… it worksWatchTheGuitar wrote: Wed Dec 13, 2023 5:19 pm Went to record something earlier and realised my (up to now) ever reliable MioXL MIDI interface was dead. No lights. The power adapter isn’t like any I have spare so having to order a new one in and cross my fingers that fixes it.
Phew! Now I can spend the money I kept to one side in case I needed to buy a whole new interface.

I like doing this sort of thing. Keep us up to date. Three months is too long for me, I'll forget about it and not finish it. I like to work on a one month cycle. Isn't there something going on in Februrary? Ah yes, Googled helped, it's the RPM challenge.SuitcaseOfLizards wrote: Sat Dec 16, 2023 6:55 am Pre-production for a new concept album....![]()

February it is for me. Or course, nobody will hear it, but it will definitely exist.

I dearly wish I could do things faster, but.. health issues.. so meh, I do what I can.ghettosynth wrote: Sun Dec 17, 2023 8:53 pmI like doing this sort of thing. Keep us up to date. It's either that or go back to writing lurid romance novels!
Been rethinking things. Ambient is a small niche, not real popular even at the best of times. Been dabbling in electro and dance-able industrial, so maybe a genre shift is in the works. Or possibly some weird guitar-and-synth dance music. All my gear is severely underutilized.
Damn, I HATE existential angst!

I don't plan on doing any of them in 2024. I have a half-baked idea for a next album project though, and I'm probably going to dump release all my collaboration stuff from the past few years as an album on Bandcamp (I guess in celebration of the fact that Bandcamp still exists).
That's what I keep telling myself. My last release got me 3-4 "cool cover art," one "cool title", one "I actually like the music" and almost enough income to cover one month of Bitwig updatesSuitcaseOfLizards wrote: Mon Dec 18, 2023 8:36 pm Ambient is a small niche, not real popular even at the best of times.

Actually, Jamruary is probably the right choice for me given my latest production direction.foosnark wrote: Mon Dec 18, 2023 8:55 pmThere's also FAWM. And Jamuary. And NaSoAlMo. Wow, people gave you actual money for ambient music? Are you sure it was real? It wasn't like a coupon or one of those fake tracts that look like a folded $20?That's what I keep telling myself. Sounds like there might be gold in them thar hills and I should do more ambient. Let's see now, I'll want to hit hard, so which equipment should I buy to to the top of the charts?

Adding videos seems to have little effect on listens, as well. But I do those for... fun? The challenge? Masochism?
Time to work on an experimental frying pan track...

Hmmm is the rpm challenge a fun one?
I’m going to participate again with Jamuaries but I want to lead into one of the February projects. So, more jammyness in January this time around and some polish in February
