the catch is the new ad daws all have every feature that you want.
What would you do if they started to put ads in daws?

Say all the daws went free but now have ads?

Use an ad blocker lol.
And there are some plugins that display ads in the UI. I DLed a free compressor or valve distortion or something, I forget, and there was like a micro banner at the bottom of it.
I said “yuck” and deleted it without even testing it out.

They'd implement something to prevent that but there could be options, free DAW with ads or pay to get the ad-free version.
Personally I'd pay to have my albums advertised. I'd even pay so that the ads show up everytime the play cursor passes a measure.

I was having déjà vu about this topic lol, then remembered I said something similar on another thread:
To expound on my original idea:
Seeing the revenue potential, I am now fully on board with making an ad-based DAW lol.i need Help wrote: Thu Mar 30, 2023 6:50 pm Looking into my crystal ball:
All the major DAWs join forces and go subscription based, or as an alternative offer an ad-based version.
You click to open an insert plugin but are greeted with an overlay ad "Limited time sales on Waves plugs!" and gotta wait 5 seconds before closing it.
To expound on my original idea:
- Opening a plugin triggers an ad.
- Clicking on an audio or MIDI clip region in the DAWs main sequencer randomly triggers a pop-up ad to open in your browser.
- Project playback randomly pauses your production audio and plays an audio ad.
- The DAW export/bounce dialogue window requires you to “visit one of the below sponsor’s websites” before allowing you to render your project.
- Using plugins is credit-based. You can in-app purchase more credits to insert more plugins, or you can watch ads to gain credits.

Best solution would be to use older versions BEFORE the ads started appearing... I use old stuff anyways as you can make just as good'a music in it than anything new, much more trouble-free, no spying, no ADS, clean code, etc>>>
I am assuming that there would be some feature to really 'HOOK' the programmed crowd to want to use it. In my case that would not work on me>>>

I’ll pull a Reason Studios and shut down the activation servers.eLawnMust wrote: Thu Dec 14, 2023 1:21 am Best solution would be to use older versions BEFORE the ads started appearing...

What if it were a bug free DAW that could mimic any classic tracker you like?eLawnMust wrote: Thu Dec 14, 2023 1:21 am I am assuming that there would be some feature to really 'HOOK' the programmed crowd to want to use it. In my case that would not work on me>>>

I already possess bug-free DAWs & Trackers>>> AXS Tracker is crash-free, Reason 2.5 & 3 has never crashed on me that I can remember, DreamStation 1 is real solid>>> Plus I use only XP SP3 so no way anyone TODAY is gonna make anything XP Compatible>>>

I thought about it and what would hook me in is:
1. A DAW that looks like the VCV rack and you get thousands of modules: synths, effects, sequencers, samplers etc etc.including a module for audio recording. All in sync - rock solid.
2. Sequencers available are the standard ones plus a standard piano roll, tracker, and one that mimics the non-linear MIDINOUS.
3. Ability for anyone to create modules.
4. AI to mimic any vocalist you like. Male to female, female to male
5. Synths can be played with the voice. So voice controlled synthesis.
6. Include a module that mimics Jam Origin for us that play guitar/bass
7. A module that mimics Aerodrums
8. A module that mimics apps that makes anything trigger drums/percussion
9. Available for all OSs including Pi
10. There is no 10th request
11. Dragging and Dropping modules over each other automatically connects them so no need to bother with cables
12. Every parameter....and I mean EVERY paramter can be controlled via MIDI, joystick. Keystrokes and whatever else that can be made possible to use

Spend more time playing music on the front porch with my dogs.
We jumped the fence because it was a fence not be cause the grass was greener.

Nope - I no way interested.
The last thing I want to see when creating an atmospheric romantic airy piece, is the message that there is a dripping hot Russian lady in the neighborhood waiting for my attention.
Maybe a bit of an exaggeration, but when you are concentrating on getting your stuff right, the last thing you want to see is a advertisement popping up in my face.
It's the same as with "hiring" software (or monthly subscription). I say no to that stuff. I want to pay once and own the stuff forever, without monthly pay or advertisement. If upgrades are behind a yearly paywall (like Bitwig does), I can agree with that because you always keep the stuff you got, if you renew or not.
So when they make a DAW free, but with advertisement, I simply look for another DAW.

They'd have to play ads offline because I'm never online when I make music. That would be the thing - free DAW with the catch you can't use it unless you're online and watch ads. And whose ads? For the company? I'm I gonna see that same idiotic Amazon 'Dale's sad Christmas Farm' ad over and over again. (My dream is to commandeer Corporate Headquarters and barricade the building and force employees to listen to that music over and over again until quitting time.)
