Vocoder mic / is it worth spending money on ?

So ,I need a mic exclusively for recording spoken word for vocoder use only

I’m using softube vocoder and is it worth buying a decent mic for clarity overall or will a budget mic equally do the job

Nah. Considering how vocals are going to be radically transformed, even if you use the clearest vocoding number of bands etc, I'd say save your money. Bog standard will do.

Shure Beta 58A $70 on Reverb $139 new I use one for a similar thing and to bitcrush Ive also streamed with it for years can't recommend it enough.

A Shure SM 57/8 etc are the best all-round mic.
BUT as soon as anyone says budget, I swap to the Behringer XM8500 which is a super mic for peanuts. It is somewhat like an SM58. I had mine for years and even vocode (occasionally)>

Even a 57 is probably overkill for exclusively vocoding. You could get by with something even cheaper i would think.
Wouldn't give the bully Uli a penny. I have too much respect for plugin guru, loopop, Oberheim, and all the rest of the folks he has been uncool to, not to mention Arturia, EH, and everyone else he has legally stolen from. ymmv. (flamesuit adjusted)
But for sure something in that price range. Maybe a used 57 or 58? They are built like tanks.

I would get a headset mic so I could play keytar at the same time.
