Live 12 or Bitwig 5.1

True. To me it seems to me Live (Bitwig?) users are busy making music/money and don't give a crap about this. On the other side, Bitwig (Live?) users seem more like forum lurkers or just insecure people for their DAW of choice desperately looking for internet forum validation.

Yeah, I also read something on some forum about wanting help with playing music at home, but I have to work with Reaper all day and I can't bear to look at it at home too, but this would lead too far and into another topic. ... But I think if I had to use Ableton, the question wouldn't even arise, or with Bitwig, and now we're back on topic, wonderful save

At this moment, I don't have a live license for either AL12 (I just snuck in to beta-test it because they allowed me) or Bitwig, that's why I'm hanging out here

Even though I purchased some commercial ones, I ended not using M4L sequencers even when I still used Live. If Bitwig had Logic's Step Sequencer, I would use that.liquidsound wrote: Sat Dec 16, 2023 8:06 pm Hello pdxindy. You still don’t get it![]()

But anyhow, you run to Logic when Bitwig can’t hold itself to the arguments of “M4L sequencers” options, and more (of course).
You must have forgotten the title of this thread![]()
There's one thing I miss from Live and that is Midi Step Input. I would like that in Bitwig.

I'm surprised you even purchased some M4L devices... but that seems to be a long ago and things have changed quite a lot including great stability, in my case at least, and the direction that Ableton has taken with the latest M4L integration... just awesome.pdxindy wrote: Sat Dec 16, 2023 9:56 pmEven though I purchased some commercial ones, I ended not using M4L sequencers even when I still used Live. Bitwig will, for sure, add Midi Step Input and other competitive stuff. These 2 DAWs are playing "PingPong" without much "Delay"

Ive used live for a long time, both are similar. Similar enough to prefer one over the other. I dont need a bunch of ad ons, so the $39 upgrade per year for Bitwig is ok for me. Sometimes companies tend to grow too big for their own good. When that happens, the customers suffer. Lately Ive been looking to throw my support behind smaller developers.audiouser720 wrote: Sat Dec 16, 2023 9:43 amWhy do you prefer it over Live?vertibration wrote: Fri Dec 15, 2023 7:29 pm I got bitwig essentials, dont really need the grid as I have so many plugins, but I can honestly say I really prefer Bitwig over live.

Yes, if you are recording a lot of live instruments, miked up drum kits, lots of vocal tracking and pitch correction etc the more traditional tape and mixer paradigm DAWs will normally be better. Not as much fun and not as creatively inspiring in my opinion for certain types of music (although those holes. An often be filled with plugins). Lives niche obviously started with the DAw as an instrument, playing and creating Live, a massive sample playback machine with everything in time…we take that for granted now and expect more traditional tools…glad to see Live 12 does have a new set of live performances tools…some people still use it that way!liquidsound wrote: Sat Dec 16, 2023 8:48 pmkeywords “Audio Work”.xbitz wrote: Sat Dec 16, 2023 8:28 pm btw. it's pretty interesting ... not Bitwig, but Studio One

^^^ That's fine, but I don't understand Studio One's position. Is everyone now focusing on the dubious glory (in my opinion) of Dolby Atmos, or what?"

You don´t really take this survey as a true picture, do you...xbitz wrote: Sun Dec 17, 2023 9:13 am ^^^ That's fine, but I don't understand Studio One's position. Is everyone now focusing on the dubious glory (in my opinion) of Dolby Atmos, or what?"
Production expert is a ProTools focussed site so what are you expecting from people regulary visiting them and taking part on this survey???
In real life ProTools´ actual use is ridiculous small compared to the other DAWs... their time is over since long time and people have left for more modern DAWs...
The fact alone that Logic is second place even if it´s Mac only while all cross platform DAWs are coming far far behind should give you a good hint that this survey is nonsense...
Mac´s get used a lot in music production but their market share amongst producers is nowhere more than 50%... more likely 30-40% at max... how can a DAW with this restriction be much more used than any other cross platform DAW which user base in theory can be 60-70% bigger just of course the accessability...
Logic is good value for Mac users but itself for sure not the best DAW...
That Studio One is quite popular amongst visitors of this site is just because many Pro Tools refugees have taken this as a replacement once they realized how bad ProTools is against a modern DAW and Presonus have always taken care of making enough promotions how you can make this and that in S1 like you would do in ProTools...
There are countless S1 videos how to make XYZ like in ProTools.
Secondly do Production Expert have an offshot (Studio One Expert) which have promoted S1 for years... the YT channel ( ) isn´t active anymore though...
So never trust a statistic that you have not falsified yourself!
