ASynth and Augur are different synths.
ASynth has the analog modelled filters, Augur (which used to be VSynth) does the vector synthesis thing. Augur is not officielly released yet (pending help from someone with a real Prophet VS).

Really amazing, but I'm running my synth as JustJ not as Jam-World, Jam-World is just our homepage, please correct this.
but Anyway, RESPECT. :D

Woah! What a list! I see I'm going to be spending some quality time in my sequencer.

What a present! I guess I was kind of looking for something like this.

BTW - my favorite? String Theory...

Thank you!
It's better to burn out...than it is to um..to um...well, something, anyway...

Very helpful list.
Thank you much.

Nice list Nool.

Folks, if you can get me urls for SynthEdit synths we'll link to the developer sites at musicFAQ http://www.musicfaq.net

There may be a few links there not listed.

If someone would like to compile a list of non SynthEdit freeware we'd be happy to list them too.

This has been a incredible year for synthesis in general. I didn't think things would get better than 2003; it was a very creative year for the shareware and commercial developers. This year there have been a great number of free synths that are pro quality and more importantly, unique!

Email me at x_bruce@yahoo.com or PM me here. I'd love to help out the freeware community and have some exciting things that will be released in 2005. 8)

apul-soft does ports of freebie VSTS to Mac OS.

Really great list, but one really great synth that wasn't included is ConcreteFX Rock! Among the free synths it ranks up there with Crystal and Synth1 IMHO.

Still, that list is fablulous and should be a Sticky.

Thanks for the tips Paul Eye, Anders_S, Mute, Ronnie Pries

added 12 more, updated the list ;)

Updated October 11,2005 - added new stuff, fixed broken/changed links - welcoming new suggestions

Great List.
HOWEVER, I don't think that time-restricted, vendor limited demos should be considered as FreeWare ( i.e., Synful Orchestra,.. et al ... )

err... BetaBugs - we have a bunch of plugs out this year. I can't remember exactly what is new and what isn't, but the BugPack is fairly comprehensive, and that was definately this year :)
