I know there's a place to request this but thought I"d ask here first to see if anyone else is interested in a Mixing and Mastering section for KVR.
Yes? No?

"production techniques"?
:ud:

That's mainly for song production. Mix n master would be deserving of it's own because of all the details invloved separate from song writing production. Heck there could even be two separate sections, one for mixing and one for mastering.

Post

All in a day's work for a producer: Production Techniques !

But requests like this belong in Site Stuff.

Do you bother to read?

Sure. Why do you think a discussion like this does NOT belong in Site Stuff?

If there's interest for a separate Mix n Master section, I (or anyone) can post up the topic there. Without interest it just takes up space that could be used for more important topics. This FR/suggestion isn't important versus site problems.
If a mod feels different, they can move the topic there. Since it hasn't been moved it's quite obvious my point of view is courteous, correct and above and beyond.

I second (or third or whatever) that Mix n Master are really part of Production.

Besides, let's be honest and admit that most of what people post in places like this about Mixing and Mastering is total shite anyway so why encourage them to post more BS about headphone adjusting software that will make their wall-padding render all snare choices perfectly perfect.

If you want to see more about M & M then either post more or ask sensible Q and engage sensibly with the responders so good people are more eager to play along.

I generally see Production Techniques as covering mix/master rather than song writing etc. But cos I'm not that interested in the process of "song writing" maybe I skim over and just haven't noticed topics that cover that

Yeah there's a lot more topics related to songwriting than mix n mastering.
Wouldn't you agree it would tidy things up a bit by making a separate section solely for mix n mastering?
Another example, i see mixing topics in the effects section. Asking a good topic like, what plugins one uses to beef/smash up the drums, would fall under mixing imo and I don't go looking for mixing topics in the effects area.
So it would be nice to have a devoted mix n master section.

That is a valid point. Understanding why that is so is a large part of the real answqer.

Personally, I would not consider that a mixing thing but sound design. It ends up in Effects because people unwisely think that it is Pluginz that do the work - if only they can find Da Plug Ov Famousness dey iz da bomb. Sadface as that has totally missed the point.

It shows that what people will do regardless, is spray their Q abso-friggin-lutely everywhere. Even if you have a section for mixing, people will ask how to make caw farts sound blammin' in the Tesla cars subreddit.

What I do know is that people who want to learn to Master their Craft either create a one-on-one relationship with a Master and work that -OR- take no responsibility at all and spray themselves all over the place, creating a pretense of activity, and wonder why it never happens for them.

I do keep an eye on the Production and Sound sections and see so few Q asked, past how to clone some sound. Never do I see people a) showing a specific mix and asking how it can be bettered, or b) engaging with quality material posted.
