synaesthesia wrote: Thu Dec 14, 2023 10:51 am I may be being completely dim but I can't install OP-X 3 because I keep running into an error message telling me to install "Microsoft Visual C++ 2015-2022 Redistributable (x64)", which I have, but it still tells me I need to install it!
Tick to install it (even though you have it), it'll 'fail' but then go back to the screen saying something along the lines of: 'the VC++ install has failed but that's because you already have it so ignore this error, all is fine and it's now installed'
I don't know but, I think I'm losing the will to live here...

I may try the new demo version this weekend as OP-X Pro II is in more of songs than any other (besides Saurus).

Again, maybe it's how it each was recorded, but there seems to be something lacking when compared to an actua OB-Xa--could it be bass equalizing --not enough bottom end compared to the original? Lack of harmonics? I'm not sure, and I'm not sure how to describe it. Furthermore, it isn't with every patch. Some patches on the OP-X sound great! This is about the best I can say based off of just youtube videos.
OB-Xa and OB-X are absolutely not the same synth. The OB-Xa is way more fat and agressive.
This is a fair comparison OP-X Pro II vs original Oberheim OB-X

That indeed does sound much closer! I guess the OB-X is just not a fat sounding synth. It still sounds very good though.

Agreed. It sounds identical. :)

I'd say that if you already have the previous version, the upgrade for $35 is pretty much a no brainer, if you like the OB-X sound. :)

I upgraded more to have all the hundreds of presets than for the update to the plugin itself - that was just a nice poopy-coloured bonus :D

Indeed th OB-Xa have a Curtis 12/24 db. The 24db is way more fat and agressive
OB-X a SEM 12 db

Dark blue skin too, which I think I like better than the OG blue:

There is a button for that.
The earlier versions already did convincing ob-xa;

I like that everything is now on a single page, but it's still a mess. I don't know what the solution is other than if you don't like it don't buy it.

I tried the demo, and it's really a buggy mess at this point (at least in the AU version), especially when saving/reloading presets in your DAW, or doing much with the preset browser. If you're lucky it might recall your saved preset once, but then it will stop loading patches, or kill the output, and will keeps on nuking the preset banks in the preset browser into an empty state until you reload the plugin and they all come back...

Now blue is back (the most important thing), has anyone been able to find any evidence of all this tagging work?

Yep this is now my main theme :)
Found an instant crash (anyone else able to reproduce?):

-Load the vst3
-Click 'Favo' button
-Reaper crashes

Selecting another preset then hitting 'Favo' is all good, just if you've not changed the preset it crashes

The UI design is pretty poor imo, so no wonder features aren't discovered easily. The tags are accessed in the browser in the User banks, eg:-
