Hi guys. If anyone remembers me. Have not posted in a while. Still making bad music sometimes like running while peeing (it comes on your face) as we say here in Finland.

But anyhow, as the technology is advancing and I have seen marvelous things like Synthesizer V emerge (AI singer), melodyne and so forth. It makes me wonder, have you guys developed a magical FX chain that would turn a turnip voice into a tasty watermelon.

I mean, a sort of FX chain that I can whisper to quietly and out comes a weekend style singing voice. Surely you have! I know we are short while from prompting hit songs, but perhaps I could use something like this to finally make that hit song. Technology should be able to overcome my braindamage surely! :D

I just bought Synthesizer V Pro with a voice. Sounds good, but it’s a lot of work if you want to get something fairly specific. Beats listening to my own nasal drone.

Pitch and tone don't really matter. Confidence is everything.
Double track, compress, de-ess, EQ. That will make it sound deliberate.
And failing that, Melodyne.
THIS MUSIC HAS BEEN MIXED TO BE PLAYED LOUD SO TURN IT UP

SynthV is amazing. But even if the tracks sound nearly perfect. People wont buy it.

Did a few pieces with it:

And even though I thought the vocals were somewhat decent, I guess they still had my music which just does not cut it.

My tragedy is that I tried singing super hard for 20 + years. Felt I was almost there at times, made a crap ton
of bad music, but little did I know I had a cavernoma in my right temple. Right at the part that processes emotion.
So the harder I tried, the harder it got. Now, I realize, I can still enjoy music. But I sort of feel odd as I have
a chicken egg size hole (2 brain surgeres) in my right temple + possible lingering light epilepsy that is triggered by stress brought on by making music.

So even though I understand that yes, to make a song, you have to just have confidence, swagger and ability
to tune in to the frequency that will connect you to audience. That is probably something my brain damage made impossible for me. Siging sort of feels different now. I can make fast shitty songs, which i do at times. But to sit down, sing your heart out. Try to channel the lightning bolt. It taxes that part that I no longer have.

Yet, I sometimes still dream of a cheat code. I sort of thought SynthV could be it. But after making a handful of songs / re heating old pieces. I realized, as a 50 year old geezer with braindamage. I just dont have IT.

But yeah, just wondering, what are the cheat codes you kids use.

to me, EQ is a form of cheating with vocals. you can EQ to adjust the tone and get very different tonal results, almost like faking a voice. also, dynamic EQ helps cleaning the voice for certain sections while preserving that tone on other sections; feels like magic to me. i guess soothe and waves silk do the same, but I've been using dynamic eq for a while.

and like other people said, melodyne and compression make it perfect. add some nasty reverb and you can fix almost everything.

but of course, nothing makes it like a well recorded session. try getting there in that phase, and if you don't, fix with those tools. when i record i usually choose takes based on the correct timing and feeling of the take: i fix intonation, presence and tone in post. and if it sounds hollow, use compression, reverb and double tracking (you can do double tracking with a doubler plugin or a well configured delay, in case you don't have double takes recorded)

Multiple takes are often needed to get things right, splicing together the best bits of each take, so that each syllable sounds right and in-time.

Compression, EQ boosts if needed, subtractive EQ for clarity, de-essing if needed, subtle distortion, reverb/delay (echo, slap, etc... whatever is best for that vocal and genre), auto-tune if needed.

Stacking multiple takes will help give the modern professional feel.
