btw I don't know who came up with the idea, but whoever figured out that you can switch between session/arranger views by pressing and holding the tab key deserves a big high-five. It's quite handy on a laptop that you can stretch the browser to a quarter of the screen size in session mode, and activate all the features of the mixer. In arranger mode, none of these are visible(no browser and just the minimized view of the mixer just below the arranger), yet you can still combine the benefits of both views by pressing or releasing the tab key.

That’s weird…mcbpete wrote: Thu Dec 14, 2023 6:00 pmJust checking you've actually applied for the Live 12 beta? Even if you've paid for 12 and have been on the 11 beta team you explicitly have to apply for each numbered beta programme:SLiC wrote: Thu Dec 14, 2023 4:56 pm Frustrating- I was in the same boat until a few days ago when it just dropped for me - paid for update, PUSH 3 SA user, Live 11 beta tester...I was like...what's the criteria!

I’m ongoing beta tester for Ableton (since v.5) and without pre-purchase of v.12, I can download it now.

Actually you're the first person on the net that seems to share my view.jules99 wrote: Thu Dec 14, 2023 11:15 am This kind of mapping behavior is one of the most asked-for features from the live performance community and has been for years. It's not on the radar for most KVR Ableton users as they don't perform live and don't necessarily need it.
It's not integrated at this point, so I doubt it'll happen with this release.
I created a feature request on the Live 12 beta, and NOBODY did vote for it. Maybe because I worded the request in a strange or too complicated way. Or maybe because we are not a lot...
For information, the top requested features are the bounce in place, the possibility to distinguish vst2 and vst3, ARA, new level meter, and so on...

someone with access to the beta and suggestions (i'm on waiting list): I'd like to be able to automate macro snapshots changes plz. ♥
It's a bit cluncky to do it by recording over and over. Gimme a curve^^

The Midi transformation is the sole reason I bought the upgrade. Soon you might have tools to play negative harmonies and all the Composer tricks to make a few boring chords into a full blown piece.

the scale awareness goes deeper than I tought at first i was like meh but than i realized it's not only midi notes that a scale aware but things like oscillators, combfilters, resonators etc. you can now modulate those things in a much more musical way.Artie Fichelle wrote: Thu Dec 21, 2023 5:48 am The Midi transformation is the sole reason I bought the upgrade. "to be honest I'm not sure at this point as it's not something my team (the m4l team) have looked into before. Having said that the main reason we held off from doing this work for 12.0 was not because of the technical difficulty, but because we didn't initially conceive of the MIDI Tools as a live performance tool. We thought of them as something that would serve as the genesis of a musical idea, and the MIDI devices that already exist would be used in a live performance context. When we started to realise that actually it could be fun to allow MIDI mapping and automation of the MIDI Tools it was pretty late in the development process and we didn't want to start redefining things in a rush. So we preferred to focus on delivering a good first version which would serve the initial definition, and then take some time to investigate how we can expand upon that.
So to answer your question, I'm not sure yet but my feeling is that the UX of adding MIDI map capabilities to the MIDI Tools might be the slightly more complex aspect of this work than the technical aspect of it. Having said that AFAIK nothing in the clip is directly modulatable via M4L, so enabling that might represent a technical challenge."

If you have a straight line to Ableton devs can we get a straight answer about whether or not they will ever stop aggregating all MIDI output from plugins to MIDI channel 1? If the answer is they are actively working on it I will upgrade to the next version, if not then I’ll look to sell my copy of 11 Suite to someone who doesn’t ever need that.

Another question: Can you use multiple scales in a project? I noticed there is a global setting now, but no one mentions whether you can automate it so one can use multiple scales in a single project.
EDIT:
Nevermind, I just saw that scale can be set per clip.
Another question: Can you create custom scales?

I don't see the facility, but this has always been possible. Enter the notes for the scale to the left of the beginning of the a clip, then use Fold and you can limit entry to whatever scale you wish. There are a lot of scales in the list already.muzicxs wrote: Fri Dec 22, 2023 3:26 pm Another question: Can you use multiple scales in a project?
