I am pleased to announce the release of Diffusion, A soundbank for Arturia Pigments (mostly) inspired by ’80s and ’90s digital synthesis.

Image

Diffusion contains 61 patches for Pigments celebrating the synthesizer sounds of the late 1980s and early 1990s, when a new breed of digital synthesizers - alongside their analog counterparts - expanded the sonic territory for musicians.

For this soundbank I have taken inspiration from the era’s film and TV scores, video game soundtracks and popular music, putting a modern spin on their iconic tones. Touchstones include the music of Jan Hammer, Angelo Badalamenti, Mitch Murder, Koji Kondo, Yasunori Mitsuda and Paul Hardcastle.

Inside you will find punchy basses, crystalline bells, smooth electric pianos, glassy pads, pristine leads, cinematic strings and more. All patches have parameters mapped to Mod Wheel and macros, and NKS patches are included for integration with Native Instruments hardware.

Diffusion is suited to synthwave, vaporwave, synth pop, ambient, video game soundtracks, or any musical project that needs a retro digital flavour.

Until January 22 get 20% off the full price of Diffusion.

Available from https://oblivionsoundlab.com/product/diffusion/

Here is a demo where you can hear all of the patches in the bank:

Thankyou for including NKS patches, that pushed this from the 'maybe' to the 'definitely' for me. Do any of your other banks have NKS?

Everything except the TAL U-No-LX and my very old free Diva set includes NKS presets. (The product description for each product will confirm if they do). I think I updated them all to include audio previews too.

Cool, although now I have them they really need a controller template, you can use the one I posted for Pigments if you like (which is much more comprehensive than the Arturia one)

Amazing soundbank. I'm not exagerating when I say that I added every single preset to my favs.

I want to go even further and say that you put out some of the best preset banks period. Diffusion is another great one.

If anyone hasn't tried them, download some of those free patches and be amazed. The Diva ones are astounding. Great work!

EDIT: I also take note of the Twin Peaks references here and there in the presets.

You are too kind!

Yes I was rewatching Twin Peaks season 2 while working on this soundset, and there are a few nods to Angelo Badalamenti's incredible score in this set. It's not the first time and I'm sure it won't be the last! Twin Peaks looms large in my consciousness...

I agree 100%. I've bought most of their Diva soundbanks, but unfortunately Diva is killing my CPU.
When I bought Photon, their first Pigments soundbank, I was impressed how good Pigments can sound. None of the factory presets or Arturia soundbanks got me convinced. But with Photon, Oblivion Sound Lab put Pigments back on the map for me. So I didn't hesitate when they released Diffusion.

Thanks! For this soundbank I leaned into the sort of sounds that are familiar from digital synths of the late '80s. It made an interesting change from the analog style sounds I usually create.

I have to say that I'm really impressed with this. It is not that often that I find a preset pack where almost all presets are instant favorites. This quality over quantity. But maybe your style / preferences just align well with my own :)
