Cant seem to make it work, I have to add something to go over 100 to make it work.musicdoc wrote: Sat Dec 23, 2023 10:51 am With the 50$ coupon was able to pick up a Komplete standard upgrade for 50$. Sure it’s not quite a $100, but 99.50$ was enough to trigger the coupon. Not much that I really wanted, latest guitar rig was nice, Upgraded Kontakt library and a few other goodies. Made it more of an impulse purchase.

what a lot of overbearing obnoxious nonsense. what I get from this quality of post is exactly reducible to 'this person has no clue how to use this instrument' {and nowt but this}.Trensharo wrote: Sat Dec 23, 2023 4:43 pm Absynth 5 Almost no one used it and it was a very niche synth. There was no way NI would put developers on that product. There was nothing to gain from it, and apart from a very small very vocal minority of people... it will not be missed.
muted for all the negative waves coming off you like metallic armpits stench (not limited to this shart)

He has a point though. You simply can't put money and effort into something which won't sell enough to make the development costs worthwhile. Obviously. Naturally.
I get it. It's always annoying when you're personally affected, but, that won't change anything about the bigger picture.
Heck, if not even Massive X is worthwhile for NI, how should Absynth be?
Times change.

Obviously but NI have a habit of deprecating products by a gradual and pernicious process of neglect, then eventually they claim 'no one was interested anymore' but a lot of those people lost interest because NI were no longer showing interest themselves in actively developing it and so they jumped ship. This is in danger of happening now with Reaktor. How long before we are told there are not enough people interested in that to keep it going?chk071 wrote: Sat Dec 23, 2023 10:18 pm He has a point though. I was kind of into the Lores/Fables bundle at 99 bucks, but the latter is like 130GB and I don't think so. but I noticed "Mysteria" on there which came in under 100 with the voucher. something I remember wanting badly when it was new but it was rather more expensive then. Same developer as Thrill, same X/Y paradigm... but scary choirs and such in that paradigm is irresistible at $99.50.

Who knows? It could happen, if it isn't profitable. Unfortunately, a common rule of economy. It can happen to everyone and everything.aMUSEd wrote: Sat Dec 23, 2023 10:22 pmObviously but NI have a habit of deprecating products by a gradual and pernicious process of neglect, then eventually they claim 'no one was interested anymore' but a lot of those people lost interest because NI were no longer showing interest themselves in actively developing it and so they jumped ship. Synapse Audio does synths, while they used to do a DAW. It wasn't worthwhile, so, they terminated it. Just an example. They're not big enough for a shit storm, I guess.

Yes but the point I'm making is that these situations don't just 'happen' they are created by what people do, including companies. If no effort is put into maintaining, promoting or further developing a product then people are bound to lose interest apart from a few hardcore users (who then get called 'niche' users). It happened to Kore and if we are not careful could happen to Reaktor.chk071 wrote: Sat Dec 23, 2023 10:26 pmWho knows? It could happen, if it isn't profitable. If you take Massive X as an example, yeah, ok. Even with a delay of 8 months or what it was, it was still a rushed release, and, it's still not in a complete state. I can't see that with Absynth or Reaktor, though. If anything, there simply is no audience for Absynth. If there is enough of an audience for Reaktor, I don't know. At least at the moment, it doesn't look like a dead development.aMUSEd wrote: Sat Dec 23, 2023 10:33 pmYes but the point I'm making is that these situations don't just 'happen' they are created by what people do, including companies. I think the market has changed, and so have NI's products. I see a lot of sound and preset packs, sample instruments, and hard- and software to make beats. In the beginning, they obviously were more of a plugin developer. That has changed, as the market has changed. I don't like that either, but, obviously, they have to approach things a bit differently, as big as they are.

I wasn't responding to that point. He had another point I disagreed with. and my post was f**king clear on that.
I've used Absynth with no issues, other than it can't happen under an all-silicon native project, this year on an M1 and Mac OSes 13.6 and 14.x.
The assertion its GUI 'wasn't competitive' from the start is not supported by facts, as it came out in 2002. You weren't using such modern GUIs when Absynth was released, or when Absynth 2 under NI's purview was released in iirc 2003. Pure argumentum ad culum.

I have no inkling of what informs decisions there. Do they peruse fora and get their sense of user enthusiasm from this kind of forum and/or vi control, gearspace? Or do they make a decision based on their bean-counters' assessment of product viability as to a bottom-line?aMUSEd wrote: Sat Dec 23, 2023 10:22 pm... I would hope it's not primarily driven by seeing drivel like I felt like replying to this time... or sure, your NI managers could shore up their circular argument (to bottom line-ism) somewhat by seeing a lot of people that have not the first clue what they're talking about (on any point) in a sort of groupthink as we seem to be subject to on this forum.
