Wow, that’s not cool at all. Apps should at most only be able to remove or update their own files.

And here I thought Windows was the absolute perfect OS 😂

What does Windows have to do with it?

Post

I downloaded to the root of the Downloads instead of creating its own folder. That is unlike me and I was in a hurry. Moving forward I will always point to a freshly created folder.

I did get the EXP installed and all went well.

Glitches happen and I paid the price. Like I said, I am sure it cleans up the install files and my guess is that something went wrong. After checking through my 20tbs of SSDs, only the Download folder was affected leading me to believe the cleanup glitched.

On a Mac you wouldnt have to worry about losing files that way. But I was joking.

It has nothing to do with windows.

Second time because you seem triggered. It was a joke. But still if Windows had a Time Machine equivalent apps deleting files they shouldnt be isnt a problem.

There is actually a feature where you can load a previous version of Folder. However, that requires a regular backup or restore point. As with most drives, writing a new file to the location can be detrimental to tons of files at once.

My guess is that Roland incorporates something that not only deletes the file but wipes the content area where it was temporarily stored. Maybe after the holidays, Jon or someone can chip in what they think happened. If this had been in any other directory it could have been more devastating. I am sure I lost some items I won't be able to find again. It is what it is.

Galaxias has been updated but still no promised Vst/Au support

Its ridiculous and yet another example of how bad RCM can be. I was joking (maybe a bad one) but it would be really nice if Windows had an hourly snapshot feature like Time Machine. Its one of the reasons I store my most important stuff and downloads in One Drive on my Windows box. At least there its easy to get them back. That of course assumes paying for One Drive.

I don’t use OneDrive for anything as it can sync at a horrible time and affect stuff you’re in the middle of doing plus it doesn’t play nice with a bunch of things I use (non music, coder apps). I’ve also relocated my downloads folder to a non system drive that gets a once a fortnight backup onto a huge slow HDD. It’s in the “important but doesn’t change too often” category for me. Leaves my system drive smaller so I can back it up to external SSD in an hour or so.

I use One Drive in the same way. My production computer used to be offline. Only recently, when I got this new computer did I take it online, mostly due to the way plugins and subscriptions are these days. Honestly never thought to backup my Downloads in this way because it has always been such a benign folder with the worst/best part of it being scanned for viruses. This caught me off guard. But I really believe I understand what happened.

I do think the RCM coding is sub-par, however. This should not have happened. I will be patient through the holidays.

As a note I have not contacted Roland directly, yet. I was just seeing if my situation was unique. I have a lot invested in Roland/Boss including my V-Drums and Fantom. This doesn't touch what I have spent over the years with them (all the way back to my brand new 808 back in the day).

Lol. Not triggered. Just wanted to correct an on-going stupidity.
