Heya,

Ok, let´s face it.
I´m GASing for the Pulsar Mu. So, thats the one in focus here for me.

Your Vary Mu choice ?

@bmanic mentioned once in my other comps thread the HCL Islander. ( on sale right btw.)
I got that one in the meantime. But i´m really used to a digital visual feedback.
I can patch the Islander. But i feel quite a bit lost dealing with it, and the VU meters.

I wonder if´d not better up with the Pulsar Mu ?
On sale right now for $99. .......still a stiff price.

MU is outstanding, really recommended, nice modern features.
Analog Obsession Kolin [free-ish]
Plugin Alliance SPL Iron
Sonimus TUCO
and Islander is very worthy, nice features, great sound, added clipper in the path.

MJUC is versatile and good sounding.
Iron is awesome too. More like a spaceship if you wanna get impressed.
So get the Mu.

While the feedback here vs. the Mu was very positiv, i think it just helped me to tame my GAS down !

i don´t think that any of the Mus with a "VU meter only" would give me more than the HCL Islander allready can do.
VU meters are not my cup of tea. Nor am i anything into mastering ( whole tracks)

Yet, good to know that i parked my GAS in the right place

I might jump on the MU if the sale is still on in early january

I'll help you tame your GAS even further, HCL Islander is really very good. With the juicy saturation and clipping. I've demoed Pulsar Mu in the past, it didn't have such impact you'll get with Islander (even with metring

UAD Manley Vari Mu is really nice. Its not native yet but im sure will be soon. Also their Fairchild collection is very good.

Honestly I think MJUC is the vari-mu (actually three) to have. It's cheap, sounds great and has lots of character (but can be sort of clinical if you want it to). I can see no reason to shell out more than the, what is it now, €24 Klanghelm sells it for, and I struggle to think of a reason to use one of its higher-priced competitors.

I hear good things about PROCESS.AUDIO Rockruepel Comp.Two. Never tested it though.
It’s on sale for $65 at Sweetwater at the moment.

yeah, i need to do some thourough test-checks with pre-recorded material with the HCL Islander to get a better feel for it. Never donne so far. Just using it in realtime-play patches.
