They had an 11 beta update recently. So i dl that . Had an issue with graphics and jerky mouse movements.Typical with 11 for some weird reason , but i still reported it. That was last week Lol.
So maybe i'll get a 12 beta invite now. Iv been a user since 3 , so have some experience with Live.
Still not a fan of the sample/midi clip ui changes though. Idiotic decision in my opinion.

How's the stability and performance in latest beta builds?

Post

I am running this on Windows 10 and I have to say, it's faster than any other iteration and stable. I haven't had any crashes yet.

That's good to hear. I've never thought of Live as unstable but people here on Windows have complained.

Yes, it's been an issue for many. It also used to be slow starting up ( Something to do with M4L..?) Now it's really quick.

That’s the third 12 beta on my M1 Macbook, and it’s been the most stable of them so far. But it seems to me that the performance is not quite there yet, I’ve been getting nasty audio distortion and dropouts quicker than before (on 11, but later than on b22), I think. However not all of the plugins I’m using are officially Sonoma compatible, so who knows.

Live 12 is really fantastic, btw, bugs notwithstanding. It’s a shame that Ableton still hasn’t opened the beta for everyone.

I'm chomping at the bit to use it, I usually am not interested in betas like this, I want to see how much more friendly in general I find the browser, I can't stand and barley use the one in 11.

The browser is a mixed bag currently imho. It’s clearly the way to go, but v1 is not finished yet (duh). Tagging is not complete, there are some obsolete leftover tags in the system and whatnot. A few design decisions are weird and maybe/hopefully not final — for example, sometimes you can save your search, sometimes you can’t, depending on where you are in the browser. If you can save it, you can’t sort or change the order of appearance of your searches, which means, unless you’ve thought it through, you’ll get a long, chaotic list of „smart folders“, which isn’t really helpful. Also, apparently you can’t change the search criteria of smart folders after the fact. And that’s only a fraction — of the less-confusing stuff :clown:

I guess it’ll make more sense to test it thoroughly once it’s more production ready. There are so many other cool things to explore that I can’t be arsed to waste my time tagging my stuff only to find out that Ableton has made some last minute changes rendering all of that obsolete.

But even then it’ll take years of constant refinement to make it more perfect, I think, which is fine by me. There’s just no way around the fact that it’s a huge undertaking, and it shows.

Yeah m4l is clunky for no reason sometimes and slows down live compared to standard.
(my experience with it, on windows)
I wish i could install whats included in suite (the new synths and native effects) without having to install m4l as well.
I considered downgrading to standard 12 but there are still some features i like requiring suite.
Also first world problem, but the knobs in m4l devices and ableton seem to animate at different framerate and are often stepping.

Still the pros outweight the cons and im looking forward to live 12.

There are a few things I've wanted for ages:
'Ghost' clips so that you can edit clips in both views and the edits update wherever they are in the project.
I wish there was a 'toolbox' on a right-click or something similar. A 'knife/split' tool would be so good.
You can't have everything I know : )

Better than the last b22. b22 was not good, performance regression and issues with Push. They seem to have fixed them in b23.

There is split now in the Piano Roll view, and to an extent the Arranger view already had split though it could be better.
