Getting some pops when changing presets and in particular the preset 'Wider' can't be played on my system (M1Max) without shutting down the audio engine

Just loading that preset crashes Reaper here. Using the VST3 or CLAP in Windows. Both crash.

I just retested it here on a M1 Max and that preset works fine. Can you please open a support ticket including your DAW settings (sample rate, buffer size, bpm, etc...)?

I have also just uploaded a beta v2.0.1 (available in the user area) that should fix a few issues.
I'll also try to smooth any pops while changing presets.

Audio Thing, first thing out of the way: thanks for the update.

Let me preface this next bit of feedback with: the new GUI isn't terrible or anything and if I didn't have the old one, I'd likely not complain at all. But with that out of that way, I prefered the contrast and the lighting on the prior version. The "metal parts" (knobs, the brushed metal of the panel) of the GUI on the new version are not as bright, nor are the text labels. So there is reduced contrast as a result. I also find the different colored text for switches visually distracting. My eye keeps looking at them, and honestly, they're not that important. Figuring out the switch state was never something that was an issue with the old GUI.

I'd love a slightly brighter version with more contrast and the option to turn off the different colored switch labels in preferences.

Also, I don't think the oversampling settings should be saved/recalled with the preset. Maybe a bit of a controversial take, especially knowing that a "Lock" feature is coming, but oversampling seems like more of a Global-level setting. What ends up happening here is that the new version looks like it uses double the CPU of the old one because of the high oversampling settings in so many presets. Thus negating the benefits of the CPU savings in version 2. At least for those not paying to attention to that.

Last bit of feedback: the lighting effect on the oversampling readout is also visually distracting and makes it hard to read because the white light is the same color as the white text and the psuedo 3D effect gets lost. Version 1 used the same kind of display as the ms/tempo readout and that was much easier to read IMO. I'd love to have that back.

Anyway, I hope this is constructive and helpful feedback.

Just reported the Reaper crashes with that same preset as well as some special character weirdness in the license agreement. Was using 2.0.1.

We have got a few more complaints about this. To be honest, after months of using the new GUI I can't stand the old one anymore :) but yes, adding a brightness/contrast option could probably help.

Well, oversample can drastically change the sound, so it makes sense it's per preset. However, I just realised that some presets did not import correctly from v1, adding Oversample where it was actually off in v1. I'll fix those.

Yes, we can probably improve that indeed. Absolutely, I love all kinds of feedback, it helps us improve our products!

The spring reverb of Outer Space runs parallel to the repeats just like the RE-201. With consecutive notes that's fine, but when you send a sound like a single stab into Outer Space, you'll only hear the reverb on the stab. The repeats are dry which sounds a bit odd to me, especially when the reverb has already died out and the repeats go on for a while. If you want the repeats to have reverb too, you could use two instances of Outer Space of course, one for just the repeats followed by another one just for the reverb. Maybe this is suggested before, but what about two new routings for Outer Space?

-The spring reverb after the repeats instead of parallel and then to the output.
-The spring reverb after the repeats instead of parallel and then to the feedback, so the sound of the reverb gets processed just like the repeats.
Interesting, a new routing section would be really nice indeed. I'm planning a v2.0 for next year so I'll definitely consider this :tu:

This feature request unfortunately didn't make it to version 2.0. You seemed to like it back then. Any chance it will be added after all?

I'd love an expanded, more feature-filled Things-Texture granular reverb if AudioThing are looking for more ideas for new plugins!

Thank you for the high resolution/HiDPI scaling support for Outer Space! And thank you for supporting Linux!!!

more ideas for new plugins:

- an algorithmic morse code generator
(BTW SonicLab Fundamental does have a morse code translator, for modulation purposes 8))

- an algorithmic railroad sound generator

- a physically modeled cat purr simulator (complemented by a litter box plugin, or Windows might crap out after a while)

It's still on my to-do list, but I'll probably implement it as a simple option to switch from parallel to serial.

@Carlo:

Would a 0 ms mode (only tape sound, no repeats) be possible? At the moment the closest setting is head 1 at 60 ms (Wet Only on, Intensity at 0).

And how about an auto gain compensation link between Input and Output?
