Really? https://reveal-sound.com/content/changelog.php?spire

6 updates this year alone...

And everything what Trancit wrote above is pure speculation, unfortunately. None of us knows what the actual status of the synth and its developer is.

I get it though. If development slows, people start panicking, and need to pull stuff out of their derrière. Happens every time.

So where Spire granular Osc which they promised in their roadmap years ago? Rapid has one and it is great. But fix updates for Spire is great, but Rapid has way more features, light on CPU and just works great.

Of course it´s speculation... nonetheless based on some facts... I mean it´s hard to not see the pattern how things have slowed down...

I'd wish there were some additional features implemented as well (first and foremost wavetable support), but, development is slow as it always was.

One huge difference though...
You can sell Spire anytime you are not happy with it...
Rapid does forbid it (as a german company illegally) ...

That is true, but I guess we all knew that when we bought it...I think I paid 80E for rapid in a sale at about 1.4 and have had a ton of free updates since then- I am a glass half full guy, I feel like I have had my moneys worth even if it isn't updated again and its still a great instrument. Avenger just charged what I paid for Rapid for what I considered a fairy small V2 update to put it in perspective...anything for free is great!
X32 and 24C mixers, S88MK3, Live + PUSH 3, Osmose, RedShift 6, Pro3, S4, Tempera, Syntakt, Digitone, OP1-F, OPXY, TR-1000, Eurorack, TD27 Drums, Guitars, Basses, Amps and of course lots of pedals!

Hm, I never got that impression from your posts in NI threads, but, suit yourself. ;)

1. If it would have been clear that this synth becomes more or less abandon ware after a few years developement, I doubt that many would have bought it under these circumstances...
2. Calling the few updates we got a "ton" is perhaps a bit questionable... there were 15 from which just a few brought some bigger changes...
Avenger got 47! free updates before they charged a second time... apples vs. oranges!
15 vs 47 updates in the same amount of time and the same situation... 1 developer and one sound designer... both were intially released 2016...
Second Avenger was much more complete from the first moment in terms of the features which were added or still missing in Rapid...
3. Many don´t have bought it less than half price and they perhaps don´t feel so satisfied with their investment...
4. I don´t like to be held back... always stating yes, yes the new features are coming... it´s actively developed... over years...
It´s obvious that it isn´t since 3 years... a few tiny maintaneance updates isn´t active developement...
Just like Markus Krause did... be honest with the people...
He stated directly that active developement is done and just maintaneance will happen and he will asure that his synths will work in the future as well...
Easy peasy... nothing negative and everybody knows what will happen...

But this this eternal concealment just perhaps to sell a few licenses more before the doors get shut is not my cup of tea...

And that´s the next part to consider... what happens if the doors will be shut ... and for me this isn´t if... it´s just the question when!
What happens with this already sometimes not working authorization???
Do you think he will be fair enough to offer a from this method independent version which can still work??

Post

for me its the customer support
for example you wrote parawave them = response 2-3 weeks for me

When you write klanghelm xfer, izotope = response time = 1-2 hours

i like rapid and all the features i dont want more

Actually only in one NI thread, and that was a thread is specifically for saying what's wrong with NI. I have Ultimate 13, Machine MK3 hardware and a KK MK2 so I think have bought the right to criticise the direction NI have gone in in the last few years, even my level of optimism can't stop the venture capitalists putting shops in NI Products whilst reducing any meaningful development...my net investment in Parawave is about 80E, if they add anyhting else its for free its a bonus. With NI its well over 2000E....and its pretty much all paid updates now-a-days- GR6 got sod all before GR7 came out... :borg:

I wonder if there is a way to disable the built-in lowpass filter so there isn't a high harmonic rolloff.

Turn off the filter, the small yellow icon

Thanks. I'll try that in the demo.

To be really honest, it's about the expectations, wishes and potential of Rapid that makes it sad to see slowed down so much.
The OS support maintenance updates were hugely faster than many major brands. VST3 support was a year faster than even UAD. So they do care to keep the synth alive, it is fully functional and working fine.

@parawave had the decency to post an update on how things are just over a month a go, indicating they are making progress. So that makes this synth pretty much alive. Maybe the new MSEG system requires a bigger overhaul of the code than expected. Having to do that in spare time can be rather significant.

Sylenth1 hasn't seen an update in years. Finally got an Apple Silicon update. But besides that, there is no life there either. No one complaining. But no one is really expecting new features from this synth either.
