We shall see orchestral machines with a thousand new sounds, with thousands of new euphonies, as opposed to the present day's simple sounds of strings, brass, and woodwinds. -- George Antheil, circa 1925 ---

IMO VPS Avenger has the king of ARP/seq modules
I never knew that, I’ll have to dig it out.
Stepic is awesome.

For Melodies and Basslines, I like Riffer the best of the ones I've tried (which is quite a few).damoog wrote: Sat Dec 30, 2023 6:29 pm Looking at some Options for a sequencer plug in for a different way of coming up with melodys / bass lines /chords and would like to know what some of you recommend ,

Riffer is powerful, easy to use and has an excellent GUI. I've never had any issues with it.

Sort of a sequencer. You lay out a series of chords and can choose from a whole bunch of rhythmic patterns and phrases to play them back or export the midi. Honestly I never use the damn thing and every day I tell myself I'm gonna learn how to use all its cool new features

for these 'melodys / bass lines /chords' probably Captain Plugins are the best (Chord/Melody/Deep plugins)
Instances of different types are related to each other. For example, a chord progression drawn in Chord will be displayed in Melody, etc.
for chord progressions, EZkeys 2: Grid Editor is the best
same as the Cubase one minus the chord pads
another combined solution is the RapidComposer, the upcoming RapidComposer 5.1 (in beta) can now invoke ChatGPT and able to suggest a popular existing chord progression, which can also be examined

There is a version of Stepic that works outside of live. Great sequencer tbh.damoog wrote: Sun Dec 31, 2023 8:55 amI use Ableton live BUT I don’t have max 4 live ? I have Riffer, Stepic, and HY-Rpe. Riffer is probably the easiest to use and that's down to the less chaotic GUI. Stepic is great for randomisation and assigning different midi CCs, but I find myself mainly using HY-RPE with Battery, and Riffer to sequencer synths.
