Dont want to be rude but can it do the exact FM modulation behaviour and sound as NordLead 1 and 2?
Ive owned all versions of NordLeads but never found 'that' sound and timbre in any VST.
Tried Discovery back when it was released... years and years back. It was a good synth but it did not sound like a Nordlead even though it could import patches via sysex.
Did DiscoDSP work at the emulation part at all during the years?

Ha, I don’t think so.
I’m done with DiscoDSP. Leaving 7.9 on my backup machine and that’s it.
Oh, and your AI customer support is annoying.

I guess (hope) that people will vote with their wallet ..... I can't imaging anyone in their right mind shelling out $79 for a new preset browser and some DSP updates (and some 'stability and improvements' that should have been included in a point update).
Quoting your blurb, "As a token of appreciation to our loyal customers", please, please have a rethink

Personally I cant hear any difference between 7.9 and 8, maybe my ears are too old!
X32 Desk, i9 PC, S88MK3, S1, BWS, Live + PUSH 3, Osmose, RedShift 6 Pro3, Tempera, Syntakt, Digitone II, OP1-F, OPXY, Eurorack, TD27 Drums, Guitars, Basses, Amps and of course lots of pedals!

upgrade price is a bit much.
$39 would've been automatic and $49 i'd have probably gone for it too. $75 is a no and i'll wait for some kind of discount holiday sale.

my take as well. $75 is a no. perhaps a 50% off spring sale will bring me in but can't recall if there's ever a sale on upgrades?JamminFool wrote: Mon Jan 01, 2024 2:39 pm ridiculous upgrade charge for essentially a maintenance release.

The concept that Discovery Pro 8 is technically now better than the Nord Lead and has more presets makes me want it. v7 was pretty much the same thing almost as Nord Lead. I'm not a musician so my lead playing is weak. Musicians hate crutches of support in music. I just rely on features and presets to be productive in a good way usually I also like to patch my own patches on a occasion.
It's all easy for me I just can't focus enough to patch modular's fast or my own presets. DiscoDSP is a great company.

Sure but here the main topic which is annoying among registered users is that the upgrade price seems a bit steep especially compared to the new stuff added.WordClock wrote: Mon Jan 01, 2024 8:12 pm The concept that Discovery Pro 8 is technically now better than the Nord Lead and has more presets makes me want it. v7 was pretty much the same thing almost as Nord Lead. And, who can say how much the new version is better regarding Nord Lead emulation?

The steeper than average price seems to be because v8 is way better than v7 based on the feature upgrade list I read. I think I may have been mistaken about the features. I actually agree I think that DiscoDSP should lower their upgrade price. Input on a recommended price is a good idea.mabian wrote: Mon Jan 01, 2024 8:34 pmSure but here the main topic which is annoying among registered users is that the upgrade price seems a bit steep especially compared to the new stuff added.WordClock wrote: Mon Jan 01, 2024 8:12 pm The concept that Discovery Pro 8 is technically now better than the Nord Lead and has more presets makes me want it. v7 was pretty much the same thing almost as Nord Lead. The new features including the new patch browser will make me a buyer later on if I love the demo but I think software is worth less than hardware and I suspect Discovery Pro will have many future versions in chance. I don't recall the upgrade price I paid to upgrade to v7 let me look it up... Ok I just I looked up the purchase in my email and didn't find the price. Oh well.
Most people wouldn't want spend beyond what they spent on the greater plugin called Omnisphere 2 to stay up to date with DiscoDSP software who use it or other fancier plugins. I recommend that other users request a cheaper upgrade path if they don't like the pricing. Chime in.

There should be a product loyalty upgrade of $29 for those who paid for upgrades 2 times or more I feel. A lot of the users here may have paid for Discovery more than 4 times to stay current. It’s important to keep most users ar about $199 total spent at most on the plugin no matter how long they keep supporting DiscoDSP.
