To be fair, DiscoDSP has not addressed the upgrade price complaints yet. I really hope they do.
However, we all agree that all of "this" lately is very much unlike George. Over the years he was always so helpful and seemed a true proponent of this community (not KVR specifically, but rather VST enthusiasts). The cost of his upgrades and cross-grades always hit just right. His comments and reactions to posts here always made us feel like he cared not just about his craft but how he could make it and keep it accessible to as many as possible. That all seems very distant now with this and the weirdness surrounding the OB-xd discussion.
It is genuinely sad. I want George back.

I paid 19 euro for previous updates, 5>6 and 6>7. Why would I pay 75 for 7>8?

We understand your concerns about the high update cost.
Please watch for our upcoming sales this year, as they may offer what you need.

why not just make the update price cheaper if your expectation is that people are going to wait for a sale? i guess some people will pay the $75 update fee?discoDSP wrote: Tue Jan 02, 2024 5:33 pm We understand your concerns about the high update cost.

anyway, i just checked my email and the update announcement email showed up.. no mention of price in the email. had to go log in to the member's area to see the upgrade price.
i guess i'll have to catch that sale in spring or whenever.

I don't like complaining but i have to agree;
$75 is already too much, but for me it's €99,59 which is pretty ridiculous.
So i will indeed wait for a sale and then reconsider.
But i agree with the post above: i will just buy the upgrade this week if the price wil go down (a fair bit!).
I bought v7 in 2022.
I could maybe see such a upgrade price for a v5 or below, but not for a v7.
Sorry!

While we do hear from customers who are hesitant about the update price, others find that the value justifies the cost. However, we appreciate that budget constraints are real. That's why we occasionally offer sales, providing an opportunity for those who prefer to wait for a more favorable price.dayjob wrote: Tue Jan 02, 2024 5:48 pm why not just make the update price cheaper if your expectation is that people are going to wait for a sale? i guess some people will pay the $75 update fee?

We value all our customers, whether they choose to update now, later, or never. Your feedback is crucial to us, and we'll keep it in mind as we plan future pricing strategies.

I bought v7 July 2023 for $89 ("sale"). It is truly sad to see they now ask me to pay (almost) the same for an upgrade. I am very disappointed. This makes me feel sad (DIscoDSP, it is not because i can not afford, I can....)
Please support your customers, do not milk them!
... whatever, happy new year to you also

Thank you for your message. The discount you received in July 2023 was provided by a reseller, not directly by us. We no longer offer direct product discounts. While we recognize your concerns about upgrade pricing, we do provide special deals to existing customers during events such as Black Friday. We recommend taking advantage of these opportunities for more favorable pricing. Wishing you a Happy New Year!modularmoog wrote: Tue Jan 02, 2024 6:20 pm I bought v7 July 2023 for $89 ("sale"). Yes, I almost became a customer (really like your software).discoDSP wrote: Tue Jan 02, 2024 6:38 pm ... we do provide special deals to existing customers during events such as Black Friday.
However, decided to refrain at the end (of the BF hype), and now I have learned that I was right. Because if I had bought end of November, I'd now have to pay approx. 99 Euro (incl. VAT) for an upgrade.
Too sad.

Thanks for answering, and am I reading (in between the lines) basically... "we dont c...... so sh**t *** **** **" ???
I am very interested to see how DiscoDSP will follow up "their next big sale(s)". Let me guess "50%" off for new buyers, and nothing for the old customers? Their answer to this will be "we can not give further sale on what an reseller company sold". kind of like the answer above
I like the product, but will not pay what i find unfair to (the real) customers. From where I came from it was always important to appreciate and take good care of old customers. They are why we are alive.
I have the feeling this is not the case here. Hopefully I am wrong.
But whenever I have a bad feeling about something, then I try to avoid... So for now I will leave.
