Why no Slate Digital?

I have noticed no one ever talks about Slate Digital.
Some years ago I had a one month trial of their plugins. They were not bad, but somehow not good enough to subscribe.
I just checked the website, Slate still exists!

It seems like Steven has moved on from plugins to hardware… Raven and VSX headphones and VMS mics. I doubt we’ll see much in the way of new software from Slate that isn’t for those products.
The existing Slate plugins will continue on as a guaranteed income stream for Slate, but I don’t foresee the subscription bundle expanding much from here on out.
But the main reason you don’t hear much about Slate Digital plugins on KVR is because Slate doesn’t make synths for techno.

...I think we don´t talk about Slate Digital because they don´t have enough reverbs...

Subscription probably plays a major part. The majority will see the word subscription and immediately move on and not even demo. If I see subscription then I'm not going to waste any further seconds on a company that will be on my ignore list.

My room sounds so good that I record Avenger from the sound of my speakers
into my daw
If I want plate reverb sound I hang baking
plates on the wall
And from March to May my room has some
nice spring reverb sound

When Slate went sub I dropped them like a hot stone...

Slate Digital was sold in 2022 to Audiotonix, the same company that owns SSL. Hence why the sub is now Slate+SSL. Slate's other company, the one that makes VSX and some other products is still an independent entity.
I suspect that VMR add ons were less exciting to the KVR crowd than standalone plugins and then development of new Slate Digital products slowed down anyway, so there's less talk of them here. And of course the anti-sub crowd. I remember Steven swearing up and down that his products would get cheaper after the went Sub, because they'd have the extra sub revenue coming in steadily. Instead, the low price sales dried up entirely to push the sub and the company was sold. C'est la vie.

I should try that approach. I've been lately using reverb instead of eq and compression. It's so much better this way. Just stick a reverb on it! My mastering chain has 7 reverbs in a row. It's only a bit challenging to use a reverb instead of a gate, but I'll watch some videos and I'm sure it will be ok...DCrown wrote: Tue Jan 02, 2024 7:41 pmI don't use reverbs, have good room treatment.martinjuenke wrote: Tue Jan 02, 2024 7:40 pmReverb Expert has spokenDCrown wrote: Tue Jan 02, 2024 7:38 pmWell, you better read the slogan of Slate's reverb.
