So what I am seeing is no new oscillators, they were just "refined".
No new distortion models, they were just "improved".
No new filters, they were just "updated".
Something called "disk mode" - a new way to browse presets I guess. Yay.
And then something about an "expanded" preset library. How many new presets exactly?
So nothing really new. And you expect $75 for this??
How do you justify that?

I think that is the wrong question. The only relevant thing (for you) is if you can justify shelling out that amount for it.

$75 (+ VAT in the EU) for a very 'limited' upgrade? Good luck with that! LOL

I don't know what kind of an answer you expect to such a question. Especially as the justification is a simple matter of "I set a price and people may or may not pay that price". There is no other justification, or the need for one.modularmoog wrote: Tue Jan 02, 2024 7:36 pmMaybe you could let, DiscoDSP answer?chk071 wrote: Tue Jan 02, 2024 7:22 pmI think that is the wrong question. Can you justify paying that amount. That is the question, and nothing else. This isn't some kind of executive board meeting. Nobody here has the right to talk into George's business decisions. And, nobody has to pay that price, if he doesn't want to.

I’ve seen people on the Market Place here, struggling for weeks to sell their Discovery Pro licence. I remember watching the price go lower and lower, until someone finally bites. Generally we were talking about something like $30~$35.
And still, the very same Discovery Pro sells for a top-notch synth price and now goes even higher, about ten years after.
I appreciate this irony.

... And .. How much is the pigments update fee (at least until now)... Sorry, I see that discoDSP has costs to sustain. But this is not fair to users (for me of course)SLiC wrote: Tue Jan 02, 2024 8:23 pm Synths like Phase Plant and Pigments often sell for 99 bucks or less…you get a lot of synth for your money now-a days!

Thought Id pop on and see if Im missing anything - £78.83INC vat for an upgrade (logged on to see if it was a mistake) nope!
I can't see the value from my end so what I'm I missing. Why is this update so exceptional vs last upgrade which was pretty decent at £19+VAT back in May 2020 to version 7.
THIS is NEAR ENOUGH 4x the price (don't think my salaries gone up 4 fold haha) …needs a smart rethink.
£20/30 no brainer - £75 pass by and see what I can get new for the money, if I was looking to spend it!? £130 for new users hmmm.
I know things are tough, just as they are all round.
Please George have a rethink on your pricing here!

I think this is an unwise decision. The majority of their customer base is on KVR and Gearspace no? $24.99 upgrade is fair for whats offered. I demoed it last night, I don't hear a $75 difference in sound quality. Now is the point where you find out if a company listens and changes, or if they double down. Customers dictate the worth of a product, not the other way around. Now......Lets say they redid the whole plugin, and added modes that match previous Nords, including the Wave, and Modular.....Ok now we are talking. Then I would say OK, its definitely worth the $75 upgrade, or even a $99 upgrade.

It's absolutely fair. Nobody is forced to pay that upgrade price.mabian wrote: Tue Jan 02, 2024 8:28 pm... And .. How much is the pigments update fee (at least until now)... See, I think that's what people don't understand about economy: The best (and only) way of making a point is deciding whether or not it's worth the money. If the cost of upgrade, of the cost of the plugin is too high, George won't sell many licenses. Thus, he will consider twice next time, if he wants to charge that price.
It's 100% fair. For everyone. It's also fair that there are DAWs which are free, and some which cost thousands of €. What exactly isn't fair about that? There is no "fair" price, just one that people pay or not.

I have read your replies now. It seems you put your opinions above anyone else. I mean, who are you to see what others don´t understand about economy?chk071 wrote: Tue Jan 02, 2024 8:56 pmIt's absolutely fair. Let us put it this way (since you know what is fair and we are clueless).
Let´s assume SYLENTH1 is a top #1 as of until this day (surely we can agree it is within top #5 right??). Lennar ask €139 for this. Now let us assume he makes a pretty much minor upgrade and ask €138 for the upgrade, then of course €139 for new
I guess your #1 skilled economic harvard eco-skills now will answer us "it is 100% fair?
Ok enough nonsense, you really got no clue, do you? It is not a discussion about what mr (whats his name again?) can ask or not.... it is a question about hitting the target being fair to their customers. After seeing this my conclusion is: 100% SCAM!

I won't pay this price, and if the majority of other potential customers won't, then will we be able to say the price wasn't fair because most people decided it was not worth?
I think we are playing with words around the very same concept...
