Yeah I get worried about that too, but doesn’t Amazon where you live let you have an item delivered to a nearby locker or shop you can pick it up from when it’s more convenient?ghettosynth wrote: Tue Jan 09, 2024 9:46 am Did I really need same day? That's a solution, but, it's also a solution to just get same day and get some of that instant gratification. Also, the lockers aren't really that convenient round these parts.WatchTheGuitar wrote: Tue Jan 09, 2024 9:57 amYeah I get worried about that too, but doesn’t Amazon where you live let you have an item delivered to a nearby locker or shop you can pick it up from when it’s more convenient?ghettosynth wrote: Tue Jan 09, 2024 9:46 am Did I really need same day? I have other vendors ship to the local FED Ex shop which works, for the most part. They managed to lose an expensive package for me late last year. The vendor replaced it, but it was still annoying.
Not going to lie, that pedal is so orange that I must try it out tomorrow (well, later today, I'm up too late it seems). I think that you understand.

Fair enough, there’s a shop just over the road from my house that’s open every day until 11PM so it’s very convenient. If I had to travel any distance to pick it up I’d probably do the same as you.
If gear is giving you GAS just for being orange then maybe you need some orange tinted glasses.

What can I say, I like orange and it's cheaper than pizza. It's probably better that I don't eat so much pizza anyway. My doctor would probably agree that the orange pedal is better for my health than more pizza.WatchTheGuitar wrote: Tue Jan 09, 2024 10:07 am If gear is giving you GAS just for being orange then maybe you need some orange tinted glasses.

OK, it's stupid but it's fun and cheap: MØffenzeef Shtick!
Some of those noises really appeal to me, and it makes more sense than Pet Rock which people got excited about. I like the idea of just hitting a button, getting a random drone/noise and then working with that.
So I guess I need to amend my New Gear Resolution to allow for cheap toys that amuse me.

You know you can just bring a recorder into an arcade right? Lolfoosnark wrote: Tue Jan 09, 2024 4:00 pm OK, it's stupid but it's fun and cheap: MØffenzeef Shtick!

but then you choose a sample and it's not as "lets see what we get..."
i like it, but 25 dollars probably becomes closer to 100 with customs
(i may or may not be exaggerating)

I would like it as a 2hp eurorack module with just a trigger in and an audio out. I could turn it into that, but I have enough unfinished DIY projects already.Constructed Identity wrote: Tue Jan 09, 2024 6:32 pmYou know you can just bring a recorder into an arcade right? No problem. I'd been looking at signalsounds website just before Christmas and noticed they had them.

Well, don't we all. But I'm curious what is appealing about that particular piano hardware such that software wouldn't be a good substitute? It is a cool color, so yeah, I get that, but is there more?cryophonik wrote: Tue Jan 09, 2024 3:20 pmI have far more software instruments than hardware.![]()

I don’t usually view software as a substitute for hardware and I like to be untethered from the computer for much of my playing and composing. I use hardware synths more than software synths, but I like and use both. I like the SX7’s small form factor, its ease of use, audio over USB is a bonus, and I really love the sounds of the pianos and EPs. I basically wanted a simple version of Lounge Lizard and Keyscape in a box, and that’s essentially what the SX7 gives me. The blue looks nice, the black SX8 looks even nicer IMO, but I wasn’t going to spend that much more for a bunch of organ sounds that I would just delete and replace with more pianos and EPs.ghettosynth wrote: Tue Jan 09, 2024 10:20 pmWell, don't we all.
