Amelia3 wrote: Wed Jan 10, 2024 12:15 pm First of all, I'm so sorry I know this is an old discussion but the topic is very important I am appealing to the admin. Please approve my post, Thanks What exciting new possibilities does the publicly available DSP56K emulator unlock for users of vintage music hardware like the Access Virus and Nord Lead? Can anyone answer my question? I will be very helpful
It's probably best explained on their site and even more on the Discord server (linked from their site)- there is already a couple of emulations available you can try for yourself! The Virus Ti is only available to 'supporters' (a $20 donation from memory.)

https://dsp56300.wordpress.com/
I don't see where their website says that you will receive the Virus TI emulator when you donate $20.
Could you explain a little more?
All emulators will be public eventually. However, by donating, you get access to current alpha and beta versions. The Ostirus emulator is the Virus TI emulator and is currently in alpha version. You'll get access to it if you donate and support the devs.
Edit: However, let's not forget you need the TI firmware file to make it work and it's the intellectual property of Access.
Thank you!!!
How could one find a tutorial on how to dump the firmware? Is it included (the tutorial) in the alpha version as Gam456 suggested?
By the way, is $20 the minimum donation to access beta/alpha?

No, it's not included as, like I said, it's the property of Access and cannot be freely redistributed.
No need to dump it from your hardware. If you own a Virus TI, you can simply register it on the Access website and then download the computer companion software from there. The firmware file will then be installed along with everything else and you can just copy and paste it next to the Ostirus plugin.
£20 (about $25) is the minimum required donation.

No firmware is included in any version and no official instructions are given for how to do it (as far as I know) or where to get the firmware's from as the 'legality' of using this firmware's is still up for debate...the general consensus is if you own the hardware you will have the firmware and be able to use it with a clear conscience ...but obviously there are places where you can download firmware's, sometimes even from the manufacturers own websites as legacy firmware dumps. Sorry to sound all cloak and daggers, but as I say, legally its a grey area!

All the real info is (including donation amounts and methods) is on the Discord site.
X32 Desk, i9 PC, S88MK3, S1, BWS, Live + PUSH 3, Osmose, RedShift 6 Pro3, Tempera, Syntakt, Digitone II, OP1-F, OPXY, Eurorack, TD27 Drums, Guitars, Basses, Amps and of course lots of pedals!

Hope the Nord Lead is next. Lookin' to make some disco with it.

You should probably start with the full releases of Osirus and Vavra first. The TI is a little more tricky to install. As others have said, the best thing is to join the Discord. The developers are there every day.

I believe Virus TI and Microwave XT are the only synths currently being worked on.

Eh? You mean the Virus TI Suite installer? Yeah you still need the hardware to even install it.. at least that's what I remember. Has it changed?

You need an account to download to download the TI installer, but you don't need the hardware to get to the OS Firmware, it just lives in the folder with the TI VST that is installed, no need for the hardware to do this.

Just so everyone is clear, you don't need the hardware to do this, I did it a few weeks ago. Downloaded and installed- no hardware. I cant say if you needed to own the hardware to access the download as I did once own a TI so had access....
AFAIK, you still need to enter your TI serial number on account creation. Meaning that unless you own or owned a TI (and still have the serial number), you can't get the firmware directly from Access.

I just downloaded it although I never owned a TI (only an A and the powercore version) I didn't try to install it though.

Yes, I had Powercore first and pretty sure it didn't differentiate in the download section....all or nothing! Once downloaded it will instal for anyone as when it was made there was no emulator so it would have been no use without hardware!

Ah ok, well I haven't tried it but I too have access to the website because I once upon a time owned a version of the synth. I just remember the OS update procedure asking for the synth to be connected to update the firmware.. and at least back then you couldn't skip that step, as far as I remember.

Probably the case, but you don't run the OS Update procedure, just install, don't run- the OS Firmware file file is just sat in the folder...

That is not true.
