The developers have carefully chosen their words about this. Best to read the Discord. They seem to feel that talking openly about it like this could jeopardize the project.

If they are doing something possibly illegal, why would anyone want to get swept up in it by joining their Discord server and getting their IP logged?

Yes, good point. I think they’re hoping the companies will license the emulator from them. It’s actually weird that Access hasn’t. Here they’re getting a product dropped in their lap that will sell like crazy, seems like an easy win. Maybe Nord or Novation will be interested. I can’t see Roland getting onboard, sadly.

Contributing to the project is optional unless you want to be part of the Alpha test team. They are not selling the software, just wait until its finished you get it free...just like the 2 they have already released. It's pretty hard to complain about that.

I am not sure what you are not getting, it’s not a demo and you don’t have to pay for it, you don’t need to donate, you don’t need the alpha at all as they release it FREE when it’s finished which has been a few months after the alpha normally; you don’t need it until it’s finished, so it’s free.

the issue Kemper/Access will face soon is that those old Symphony line DSPs are all eol with NXP - so once stock of them dries up they're faced with either retooling onto a newer DSP platform ( large s/w development investment plus new boards ), developing a drop in pin-for-pin equivalent replacement part themselves using fpga or similar ( no need for new boards but even bigger dev costs ) - or just dropping the ti2. I have no idea how many units they still sell each year - that will obviously be what drives their decision.

Interesting.
They havent updated the firmware or driver for many, many years though. The TI does not work with Apples, for years. Not even Midi over USB works. The package still says TI works with Mac, so Access is promising users something that isnt true anymore.

I highly doubt they will be updating the hardware either. They cant even make the driver class compliant...
They really screwed up their brand by abandoning support but still selling....

did you notice those documents are dated 2008 - if you clicked thru to the longevity links you'd see this - like I said EOL ( there's a reason the product pages have 'not recommended for new designs' at the top )

I really hope this happens. I have absolutely no problems paying Access for a virtual Virus and I'm pretty sure they would be selling a huge amount of copies. I suspect they, like some other hardware manufactures, completely underestimate the amount of money there is to be made in the soft synth market. There is a reason why Korg has been so active in the market.. and why Roland finally jumped aboard and why Yamaha is finally entering it properly this year.

Being able to license a full emulator could be extremely cool and a very quick and easy solution for them. The only downside being the amount of CPU cycles a proper emulator eats.. but I'm sure there is a lot of optimization still that can be done. At least this has been the case when it comes to PS3 and original Xbox emulation.. they used to be huge resource hogs but have lately jumped in performance with some awesome optimizations.

Yes. Access not updating their USB drivers for over 4 years is really all we need to know.

At the moment the team reach the limit of optimisation. If you expect to run multiple track you will need something like an Intel 12/13th gen
