If Access is ever going to release a Virus plugin it should be a proper port. I doubt an emulator is going to be as efficient as native code. It would always feel like a makeshift solution to me.

It won’t be as efficient, but a modern processor has far more power than the virus hardware even via an emulator. It sounds exactly the same as the hardware and uses little cpu on my PC.
X32 Desk, i9 PC, S88MK3, S1, BWS, Live + PUSH 3, Osmose, RedShift 6 Pro3, Tempera, Syntakt, Digitone II, OP1-F, OPXY, Eurorack, TD27 Drums, Guitars, Basses, Amps and of course lots of pedals!

Where did you find a download for Vavra on that page?
There is only a link to Discord, no download link like Osirus.

I feel like the shady behaviour of the developers has tainted this project.

I just assumed the link in the Downloads drop-down was a link to a download page (like with Osirus) ... my mistake. :dog:

I've known one of them for around 20 years. He has always contributed to the synth community, a really great guy who just loves synths and wishes to use his favorites synths inside of his computer. He owns all the synths they're emulating.

OK, but why is everyone involved with this so cagey about it? And why is it supposedly free, but you have to join some secret Discord channel to get it, and "donate" money to get the latest version? It all seems to operate like a Russian server.

I mean, come on. Nothing about this is normal.

I understand how it could be viewed like that. The actual experience is entirely different. It's very friendly. Everyone chats like they're on a forum, including the developers. I actually stopped checking in because they're all so active and I can't keep up.

Uncle E - Friendly or not, this thing started out much differently. It was much more open, you could just download the emulator from a link, no secret chatrooms or cagey discussions or "donations" required. It has changed quite a bit from how it originally started, and it's feels really sketchy now.

rasmusklump - why does addressing the elephant in the room make you so uncomfortable? Do you have a personal stake?

I think the whole emulator thing started as an experiment: Could it be done? To prove that it could, they had to release something for everybody: Osirus.
Every new plugin emulates something more complex and I can understand the devs wanting some compensation for the time they spend on them. Think of it as some sort of Patreon support or Steam early access. Like it's been said before, donating is optional but then you'll have to wait for the full version to be released.
And the "secret" discussions are only mandatory because Access (whose intellectual property is required to run the plugin) didn't openly give a green light to the project. The devs are just afraid that if it gets too big too soon, Access will simply pull the rug from under them and kill the project.

Doo know you the 1st version Osirus was about a synth out of the market from a while ?
