Absolutely ! (yes)

If you ask this question is because (maybe) you have the misconception of this Device being a sort of retro "sampler" or "rompler" producing aliasing in addition to the "sampled waveform" itself.

Completely wrong ! :)

(my fault, because I didn't explained how it works in detail yet)

The Device uses a set of vintage NCOs *triggering* a... sort of "magic box" made by vintage, "unperfect" components. Basically, you don't hear the NCOs output, but just the "magic box" output with loads of "tuned" harmonics gently provided by aliasing.

The aliasing I'm talking about is NOT related to the DAW sampling rate (which could be 44.1 or 48 or 96 or ...etc. kHz) in any way : the only aliasing you'll hear is related exclusively to the lo-fi, vintage (modeled) components inside that "magic box" (= aliasing overtones are produced *entirely* by the "vintage imperfection" of that components' technology).

This means you... MUST (!) create "your own sound", to say it with your own words, eheh. Otherwise, you would just listen to the NCO output, which is a 7-bit sine waveform/wavetable (thus, containing just 1 partial/overtone).

The scope of the vintage "DDS" NCO (+ sigle-cycle sine wavetable) is JUST to trig the subsequent "magic box" engine.

(Happy New Year)

Finally, the name for this Device is : RawPrime.

Ok, in just a few days I'll be able to start a quick "show and tell" of the main features of this performance synthesizer (so the ones interested could have a better comprehension of this obscure matter).

Below, a RawPrime preview : "Shark Attack" synth bass preset from the factory library. All you hear is produced from solely 2 sine waveforms.

Hey Xhun,
Bit off the subject but, your ZeroBox VST 3 version is NOT compatible with latest versions of Cubase Pro, Ableton Live Suite, Reason and others...
That is on macOS Sonoma ver. 14.2.1 (latest) :(
Works as AU in Logic and Live though... :help:
BTW; Latest maxed out Mac mini M2 Pro.

Just replied in the ZeroBox thread.

Ok, a quick recap at first...

1-
RawPrime is a hybrid synthesizer : hybrid wave generators, digital lfos, analogue filters and envelopes.

2-
It is built to be a hardware-replicable device.

3-
RawPrime wave synthesis approach is quite unique : it uses the inner imperfections of cheap, lo-fi, vintage electronic components to produce sound.

4-
This vintage electronic components are arranged in a peculiar, atypical way.

5-
Filters are atypical too with a slightly aggressive flavor.

6-
RawPrime is not a bread and butter, do-everything workstation synthesizer. It is the vintage performance synth you could approach in the first 1980s for an affordable price (compared to expensive polysynths) : as very often happened with such "compact" devices, its limitations are its strenght.

Next time, an overview of the hybrid wave generators.

I put together some presets and made a brief audio demo song "Clockwork Satellite".

Note, all you hear (Synth Bass, Piano, Flute, etc.) comes from just pure aliasing produced - it means all you can hear is the sole product of the (modeled) electric components "lo-fi nature". Otherwise (if the vintage components were not cheap and imperfect), no sound would be audible.

I've done some "tuned aliasing" synthesis in modular land. It's a cool approach. I'll check this out when it gets released.
Don't F**K with Mr. Zero.

Exactly, you got the point.

Tuned aliasing is the key aspect - or better in this case, multi-dimensional tuned aliasing.

How do you even do that? I want to recreate it in Bitwig.

Sample and hold modules and high frequency square waves to clock them. You need to be able to create continuously controlable alias frequencies down in the audio range. You also have to do some math if you want these frequencies to be related to pitch in a way you are used to. Should be doable in the grid.

Edit: it's kind of like "divide down synthesis" in concept.

Edit again: what I'm talking about is not at all related to the subject of this thread other than they both involve aliasing on purpose to generate tones.

Is it AS native?

Don’t hold your breath 😉
Zerobox is not renowned for quick updates. It might never come…
“ Anyone ever tried DDMF Metaplugin ver 4.x? It features a x86 to Apple Silicon wrapper independently from Rosetta 2.” - obviously developer is trying all the ways NOT to develop AS Native VST3…
But, while you wait, you can currently get AS fully compatible 303 VST3 at similar price point from:
- BassLine 3 from Audiorealism (claimed to be the best)
- Phoscyon by D16
- Acid V from Arturia
- TB-303 from Roland
I have them all and love them all 🥰
Btw; I have promptly deleted Zerobox as I run everything in AS native mode.
It amazes me that so recent update is NOT AS native, oh well…
PS; Apple unleashed M1 cpu on November 17, 2020 - almost 4 years ago.
Obviously not enough time for some developers to convert their apps to new platform…
I wonder if there is refund policy with this developer…?

@Atlatnesiti stop being so troublesome, on both ZeroBox and RawPrime threads.

Go provoke and bothering somewhere else. You won't get any more answers here.

Hey, I'm glad you like it :)

Well, the "Clockwork Satellite" audio demo makes 100% use of presets from the factory library, so you'll find all presets out-of-the-box.

Instead, "7-bit Times That Never Were" (link below) is a simple audio demo using also of a bunch of presets from an Expansion for RawPrime (64 presets collection), available at day-one.
