I can't tell you the number of times I fiddled with a bunch of paid and/or sleek-looking reverbs trying unsuccessfully to get the sound I wanted, then tried OrilRiver with its cheap-looking, not-so-beautiful interface and got an incredibly beautiful sound. Honestly it might be my favorite reverb I own.
OrilRiver is a free algorithmic stereo reverb that can rival the quality of commercial reverbs. With this plugin it is possible to simulate the reverberation of a small room and great hall. OrilRiver has an intuitive interface thanks to which the user can quickly adjust the desired reverb sound.
Features OrilRiver:
12 variations of the early reflections.
5 variations of the reverb tail.
3-band equalizer for the wet signal, which helps to create different shades of the virtual space.
Internal signal processing: 64-bit floating point.
Sample Rate: from 44100 to 192000 Hz.
Two graphical interfaces.
Unfortunately update 2.0.3 Beta was the last one. At the moment, the development of the plugin is suspended.

+1 for Orilriver. Still better than many paid options.

.....speed is king

It´s one thing, how good a sound you can dial in.
Another, how fiddly it would be.
And again another, how easy it is to have it sound bad.

the last one is underrated imo !
and where i´ve personally struggled with many of the Reverbs i have

LiquidSonics
Thanks !
it has solved *that* "problem" for me.
"Plugin has turned Drug now"....and the business knows it.

Not "ALL-TIME FAVE-RAVE" per se, but I like Martin Vicanek's MVerb 7B for "generic" reverb duties, Adam Szabo's Solaris for "frickin' huge/drenched" stuff. They're free, sound good, and multiple instances (of MVerb at least) run without issue.

Discontinue use if rash or irritation develops.

There are other great ones out there - 2C Breeze, ReLab, anything Valhalla, but Arts is still my favorite, maybe because I’m so familiar with it
Isn't Arts acoustic 'the' trance reverb from way back? Not updated since 2013... There must be a close replacement by now, though if I remember correctly it does vocals in a very particular way...

2C Breeze is an excellent reverb, for me it's the best for smooth large spaces. I've never picked it up as I have black hole, and Spacemaster in Reaktor that already do that quite well. Breeze is the best though...

NI Raum has been getting some love here lately...

It sounds great and the lead developer is a very smart cookie....

Valhalla Room and Tonebooster's Reverb 4 are the other reverbs that are in daily use here 🌟
No auto tune...

Lately I am using a lot of UAD's Capitol Chamber and Sound City Studios; Softube's Atlantis Dual Chamber; and Sonnox Oxford Reverb, in addition to the reverbs that I already relied on from IK Multimedia and Waves. IK's Sunset, Fame and Stone Room reverbs are outstanding spaces with good tools to shape the sound character quickly, and Waves' Abbey Road chambers are still quite useful for me although I tend to use other spaces more frequently.

I'd be using Magicverb from DDMF if I hadn't missed the Black Friday sale, probably pick it up later this year when the next sale happens as I'm not hurting for reverb - it's just some really nice spaces, easy to work with and configurable without being a time sink at all. There is some overlap between DDMF's Magicverb and UAD's Capitol Chambers (specifically, Magicverb seems to have some Capitol chambers too), but they have a different specific sonic focus from how they captured and tuned it, and the speed with which you can get Magicverb doing precisely what you want is nice.

Yes, Arts is "the trance reverb" for sure. I use it, along with lots of other producers like Adam Ellis, ReOrder, Temple One, James Dymond, plenty of others. 2C Breeze gets very close, maybe the closest of all the ones I've heard - I love it as well, it's my favorite besides Arts. Unfortunately that has no native support for Apple Silicon either :/.
Many of us have tried to move on to others. Valhalla Room is a popular one. I like Toraverb quite a bit too, but if I remember correctly the CPU hit is pretty big. I'm in the market for something to replace Arts - I just bought ReLab to see; I would have bought the official Lexicon ones but the copy protection is a no go for me.
Currently Arts is living on through Avenger, but there's no Avenger FX (yet, perhaps never).
For Trance, that large, lush, stereo reverb is super important to the sound so if you have any other suggestions I'm all ears :)

I didn't think Breeze sounded much like the.arts acoustic, it being quite smooth. I thought I recalled hearing Arts Acoustic on some trance vocals and it being very familiar, but a demo I just looked up seemed a lot more metallic and hard edged, if anything about like the Strymon Big Sky which has quite a rich brash sound to it.

Valhalla Room is really good, especially smaller spaces. I like it for drums.
