And if he wants to call it beta for 5 more years, that's fine and up to him.

Maybe once or twice a year I glance at Architect, see it's still in beta, and ignore until the next time I check.

I adore Architect! As a windows user I had been scouring the web for years trying to find an app that can do what it does - I think I must have tried almost every s/w sequencer out there and none of them have been able to do what I wanted. At one point I discovered Lemur had sequencer objects and spent ages creating them, invested in the hardware to make it talk to the PC only to find that it was totally unstable. Architect - despite being in beta is super stable and tight not to mention verly light on the cpu. Sure, the documentation is a bit sparse considering the sheer amount of things that it can do but I'm curious what folks are missing in the beta that stops them using it already - are there some key features that people feel are missing?

I've never tried it. Perpetual betas are not enticing for me. When it's officially released, I'll demo it.

BTW, there are some good sequencers (especially the player ones) in Reason too. For example, PolyStep can be used as a workaround for the missing patterns in Bitwighttps://

This is great, and something I've been looking at for the past couple of weeks, but...

... it demonstrates how much Bitwig (and others) really need a way to simplify sending set parameter values with a simple custom control. Live makes it easier, due to M4L but if DAWs just offered a way to create a macro that divided the values automatically (bonus points for being able to choose a dropdown) and then having that in an automation lane, so many tools would be easier.

It's one step closer to Reason's Pattern lanes, but in any DAW. There are a number of ways to construct a 'workaround' but they're all so clunky and a pain to have to do.

(Interestingly, I just noticed that automating the VST lane for the parameter will 'snap' to the values, despite it being shown as continuous, in Studio One. In Bitwig, although a 'dial' control will snap, the automation lane does not)

only have to do it once, and the whole thing can be saved together ... until then it doesn't matter.

I like sequencers which let you decouple gate from pitch information, creating evolving patterns by using different lane lengths. I find Seqund (VST/AU) and Roulette (m4l) very easy and fun to use. Occasionally I build stuff with Toybox blocks in Reaktor, but most of the time it escalates into something completely different :hihi:

Actually, just realised it's much easier than that. I appreciate we're getting off-topic here, but it may be of interest to others anyway.

You can just throw the Reason Rack players of choice (and others) into a Combinator, then map the Pattern Select to a Key range... instant keyswitches (and multiple in one if you want).

The Source Range starts at C-2, so in the above example B-2 is 'off' and then C-1 through G-1 are patterns 1-8.

This also means you can use Sound Variations in Studio One, or Expression Maps in Cubase.

More on-topic, of late I've been playing a lot more with HY-Seq32 (and the other HY plugins) and Stepic.
